Box Office: DreamWorks Using KUNG FU on Competition - Jun 09, 2008 - 05:00pm
Saw Kung Fu Panda and it was a cute movie, basically geared towards 8-yr-olds and younger - but that's not a bad thing. Definitely a family movie though there were a few intense moments for the little ones. Saw Zohan and it was just bad. If you enjoyed Zoolander, then you might enjoy this.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL - May 24, 2008 - 05:29am
So, I did lower my expectations going into the movie and came away entertained, if assuming Indy IV was a standalone movie. But compared to the others in the series, I kept thinking this movie was not really necessary. As to those who mentioned implausibility, it is not the concept of the plot itself, which had its moments and I could suspend disbelief for. The problem was the CGI distraction as others have mentioned, and the many moments of "WTH" physical (and physics) attributes of the characters and their actions. :(

TERMINATOR Loses the Salvation Title - Mar 12, 2008 - 05:29am
Terminator: Back To The Future Terminator: Aftermath Terminator: Legend Oy.

CLOVERFIELD Monster Attacks January Records - Jan 23, 2008 - 02:59am
Add me to the peeps who liked Cloverfield. It was clever because what other shaky-cam/first-person monster-movie have ever been made? Still, I had the feeling you either liked it or hated it afterwards. Thanks to the poster for the gizmodo link.

COMPASS Comes Up Short in Dismal Victory - Dec 10, 2007 - 05:24am
snallygaster wrote: "My biggest issue with it is that I really didn't find myself particularly caring about any of the characters. I haven't read the books, but it felt like characters were hastily introduced without much in the way of developing them beyond whatever exposition was needed to further the plot. As a result, by the climax, I just wasn't that interested in the fates of the heroes." Pretty much what s/he said. I found myself almost dozing off many times during the movie, albeit I went and saw the film after spending the afternoon moving. :)

ENCHANTED Dances into Top Spot - Nov 26, 2007 - 03:55am
^^^ likewise. However, due to good reviews, I will catch Mist sometime during the week. Hitman was not very good, though the action scenes somewhat made up for it.

BEOWULF Wins B.O. Battle - Nov 19, 2007 - 01:59am
Didn't know that Beowulf opened, so was going to catch No Country for Old Men (or Lions for Lambs), but once got to the theater, changed the choice to Beowulf. Good popcorn movie, has its funny moments (some unintentionally).

SAW IV Cuts Out the Competition - Oct 29, 2007 - 03:34am
It took me awhile to even watched the first "Saw" movie, as I was not interested in torture-porn and its ilk. Then, curious as to why it made so much $, I rented the movie to see and ended up liking its escapist entertainment value (the contraptions and twists at the end). Don't think about its political/social/real-life context and you'll be fine. :)

30 DAYS OF NIGHT Takes Top Spot - Oct 23, 2007 - 02:58am
Saw We Own the Night and was disappointed in how predictable it was. The first half setup was good - I even thought it might be based on some true story. The second half was all Hollywood-y, and I kept thinking I've seen this movie before at every other scene. :( I'll try to hit 30 Days of Night some time during the week, just to prepare myself for Saw IV. (:^p

TYLER PERRY Shows Strength in Debut - Oct 16, 2007 - 03:47am
I thought "The Kingdom" was good, more so than I had expected. The only issue I had was where the characters were supposed to be entering conservative Saudi Arabia as representatives of the FBI (and the U.S.), but of course, they dress in t-shirts and cargo pants, with the standard baseball cap. Still, the movie was basically a good episode of The Unit but with better actors - with a touch of CSI thrown in - all based in Saudi Arabia. Even the fringe actors were all good. :) Also finally saw Eastern Promises, which was good though quite violent in some scenes. I liked the movie as it was somewhat different than similar predecessors, and dare I say it, quite original.

RESIDENT EVIL Takes Top Spot - Sep 24, 2007 - 03:32am
I saw the first RE movie in a theater and liked it - but saw the second on DVD and felt it was formulaic and predictable and was not going to see this one. Then, a group of us decided to go see a movie tonight and the consensus was to see RE:E, and it was a fun, popcorn movie. Better than I expected as it had more connections to the first movie, and I'd recommend seeing it in the theater.

BOURNE Packs Punch at B.O. - Aug 06, 2007 - 02:31am
Just came back from watching BU and yeah, it delivers. Overall, it stayed true to the first two movies while maintaining its own story, which makes it amazing that they did the script as the movie was being filmed. I also saw the Simpsons and it was hilarious and topical, with some parts that I have never seen they do on TV. All in all, a fun weekend for movie going.

TRANSFORMERS Has All Time Tuesday Record - Jul 06, 2007 - 07:38am
So, the movie made approximately $29.1 mil on July 4th. The Independence Day total is the biggest ever. Old record? $21.9 mil by Spider-Man 2 in 2004. I enjoyed this movie, and so did the audience, who cheered when the first transformation was shown, as well as Prime's appearance and when he first speaks.

SAW IV Picture & Plot Details Emerge - Jun 23, 2007 - 04:41pm
I also thought III was a fine way to end it, though am interested in how will they further the background storyline. Note: the above negative comments jumped the shark after their first line.

KILL BILL's Bride Returns in November! - Jun 22, 2007 - 07:59am
Awesome! Been waiting for this "version." :)

Final SIMPSONS Trailer Hits the Web - Jun 22, 2007 - 07:59am
I was a fan, but stopped watching it due to time constraints and then just forgot about it. Still, will see this on the big screen! :)

8 Minutes to DIE HARD For - Jun 21, 2007 - 07:33am
I was not going to see this movie before I saw the trailers. Looks good. :)

30 DAYS Of Night Has Been Doubled? - Jun 21, 2007 - 07:14am
Here's hoping this movie with Josh Hartnett is much better than the similar sounding "40 Days and 40 Nights." Regards, Non-unibrow

28 Weeks Later… - May 12, 2007 - 05:41pm
I was on the fence about this movie, but thanks to the review, and supposed "spoiler," I will definitely go see it now...

Spidey’s Records set Studio Standards High - May 07, 2007 - 03:53am
Speaking of records (besides the $59.3M opening-day record), here are some more records: $51 million for Saturdays $37.7 million for Sundays $500 million to make and market (most expensive movie ever)

Spidey’s Records set Studio Standards High - May 06, 2007 - 06:15pm
I thought this was an interesting bit regarding IMAX's b.o. Planning to catch SM3 in both formats. From CNN.com: "Also among the records smashed by "Spider-Man 3" was a $4.8 million domestic gross at huge-screen IMAX theaters, topping the previous best of $3.6 million set by "300" in March."

LaBeouf talks "Indiana Jones 4" - Apr 24, 2007 - 02:23am
I just wanted to click the photo above to get a better "view" of Megan Fox. Thanks. :P Indy IV should be pretty good as it's about time for another.

A Disturbed B.O Report - Apr 15, 2007 - 07:03pm
I finally saw "300" today, since previous sold-outs and circumstances (e.g. Easter) have kept me from seeing it, and what a perfect digital IMAX movie! Have to watch it again on a regular screen for comparison. I was surprised how well Disturbia did, let alone being in the top spot. SLB did pretty well on SNL last night, considering the crappy skits he had to endure. :)

"Sunshine" Trailer Now Online - Jan 19, 2007 - 03:21am
Have to admit the music is good, and if it is, why not keep using it. And that is Michelle Yeoh among the cast right?

"Avatar" coming to theaters in 2009 - Jan 10, 2007 - 12:45pm
dragon261, you're so positive! Not sure if this is enough to be a major blockbuster but you can't count Cameron out.

"Pan’s Labyrinth" - Dec 31, 2006 - 08:36am
Just saw this last night and it was amazing. Idealistic in a way, which is good. Like "Babel," this movie shows the choices people make may be good or bad, depending on one's point of view.

Fantasticar revealed! - Nov 30, 2006 - 04:08am
The new costume on Invisible Girl is the biggest disappointment in that photo.

Anne Hathaway will "Get Smart" - Nov 21, 2006 - 04:14am
Wait, what did you say? I was looking at that pic of her. But, ok, I think she does look like agent 99. It will be difficult to come up with something funnier than the tv shows.

Weekend Box Office Report: "Borat" Surprises - Nov 06, 2006 - 04:21am
edit: Fire the research team. "'Our research showed it was soft in awareness,' Bruce Snyder, Fox's distribution chief, told the Times. In turn, Borat will start off in 800 theaters Nov. 3 and then expand to 2,200 the following weekend,..."

Weekend Box Office Report: "Borat" Surprises - Nov 06, 2006 - 04:09am
I didn't see the "in only 837 theaters" coming.....not cool. Saw The Prestige instead and it was pretty good.

Weekend Box Office Report: Departed Arrives - Oct 09, 2006 - 04:11pm
I saw "The Basketball Diaries" last night by coincidence. Wished I had time to see The Departed over the weekend. Well, some time this week then. JS's "acting" probably ruined "Dukes..." and now "Employee..."

Jeffrey Wright to play villain in LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD? - Oct 04, 2006 - 08:00pm
I'm going to see it b/c Maggie Q is in it. :D

Kate Beckinsale joins VACANCY - Sep 11, 2006 - 03:27am
Heh, I clicked on this link just to see a pic of her. :P

Weekend Box Office Report: Another Bland Weekend - Sep 11, 2006 - 03:23am
Correct. We went into a 10:40pm Hollywoodland showing and not one person was in the there so decided to watch The Protector instead. It was more 'crowded' with ~30 people total. Well, it was a fun movie, more action than expected and I'd say the best hand-to-hand fighting movie I've seen this year...supposedly all the fight scenes were done without wires or CGI. But, alas, the Weinsteins cut out 29 minutes! from the original.

CASINO ROYALE trailer is online! - Sep 08, 2006 - 07:48pm
This trailer looked best so far. Nice, a moody Bond.

Weekend Box Office Report: Boring Holiday - Sep 05, 2006 - 05:17am
I have to say Crank was a one-trick movie but fun because it didn't take itself too seriously. Worth at least a matinee. Wicker Man was unintentionally funny because it was so unbelievable and unbelievably corny. Save your money.

THE WICKER MAN - Sep 05, 2006 - 05:11am
Never saw the original but thought if they made a remake, it must have been good. Well, this was a very silly movie, that's the best word I can come up with. There were many moments when the entire audience laughed and/or snickered because it was so preposterous. Many moments.

McConaughey and Hudson team for FOOLS GOLD - Aug 10, 2006 - 04:34am
