Two months after we passed along the rumor that Berg wanted to remake DUNE, the director has officially confirmed it to MTV. He will be remaking the Frank Herbert classic  but not until after he films Edwin A. Salt, a spy thriller vehicle for Tom Cruise. He told the site that the strike was the reason for Dune not being in production now, with no script written yet for this revision.

OH HELLS YES!!!! That right there mage my Geek-o-Meter hit 20! That is one book/movie I have been praying that someone with talent remakes. The one by Lynch was good, and some what faithful, but it really was screwed not by the director but by the studio execs in charge of the cash. Lynch wanted it longer, more in depth and grander. They told him NO. ow it is about time that Dune gets the big screen love it deserves. Berg can do Dune better. I have faith in his skillz. I pray that this is going to kick ass.

This is good news. I have been waiting for another DUNE movie for quite some time.

Peter Berg has done:
Very Bad Things
The Kingdom
Friday Night Lights
The Rundown

I loved the rundown, but not sure these movies qualify him for something like this. Still, you gotta do something a first time, so I say what the hell. It's Dune it can't be bad. I've loved every version so far.

I see a train wreck about to happen. I liked the first Dune because I hadn't read the book yet. Read the book and realized how much was left out and changed. Then I saw the first mini and enjoyed it. I now know this book can't be done properly in 2-3 hours. It will have great style but most fans will feel something is missing(Chronicles of Riddick)

If we have to have another big screen adaptation, at least get a decent director and some good actors.

Best version so far is the Sci-fi miniseries.

Liked the SCI-FI version myself. perhaps they're planning a multi movie telling of the story ala LOTR?

Nice to hear... I've always really enjoyed Dune. I thought the Sci-Fi series was alright, but nothing to write home about. It can certainly be topped and I'd hope that Berg is the man to do it.
