While not much was said, it should be passed along that producer Peter Billingsley was on hand at the Spike Guy's Choice Award ceremony and Scott Huver from SHH cornered him about the upcoming follow-up to this summer's first smash hit Iron Man. The actors are all enlisted back for the sequel but Jon Favreau is yet to sign on the dotted line (though it's likely to come soon.).

The first film opened in theaters May 1st to a tally of $98.6 million and has since gone on to gross $519.1 mil worldwide. $276.6 of that is domestic while the other $243.0 mil is from international audiences.

Here's what was asked.

CS/SHH!: Are you guys already working on your plans for the next one?
Billingsley: Absolutely. I guess that Marvel kind of controls a lot of that stuff and they seem to have a plan about these things and how they're laid out. I think "The Avengers," now that we can speak publicly about it, will be coming out as well. So we're just thrilled at how much people are loving the film and how well it has done.

CS/SHH!: Any "Iron Man" storylines from the comics that you're primed to adapt for the sequel?
Billingsley: Nothing has really been decided yet, but I'll tell you that there's just such a wealth of great stories. We tease The Ten Rings in the first one for all the comic book fans, so there MIGHT be something there. There's so much to take advantage of, but the most exciting part is that, always, when he's in the suit it's going to be great, because you've got the technology to do it and with Robert and this cast there's so much we can do when he's not in the suit. So I think exploring Tony Stark, his father and sort of more of the dark side of Tony, it's a great opportunity.

It's all good news. I've no doubt that Favreau will be back at the helm. My longterm question is wether or not they'll let him do the Avengers film, since he has already hinted that he'd love to do it. As for the Ten Rings, I think the Mandarin would be a perfect enemy for the Avengers' first mission. You already have some of the ground work laid out and can add to it with IM2.

I know people/fans might be itching for a drunk Iron man. But I think it might be a mistake. A storyline like that is good for tv not the movies. A dark storyline would not work for this type of movie they made. Producers will not fuk with that formula at this point for a cashcow (my word for the day it seems).

To some degree we've already seen Tony rise above his drunken obliviation, but that's not to say he couldn't slip into old habits... however... we already have a movie coming out about an actively drunk superhero coming out called Hancock featuring golden boy Will Smith, so using that plotline might not be such a good idea.

It's good to finally see a child actor grow up and NOT be a complete mess with his own show on E! (Peter Billingsly = Ralphi, A Christmas Story). Plus the fact he seems to know what he is doing, and giving the fans what they want.

Not sure if they would go down a drunken Tony Stark path, as it would not be good for kids ($$$$$), and Marvel has already said no more "R" rated movies. Not sure if you could do it well at PG-13, plus... it has been done to death. Whatever they choose, I am sure they will make the correct call and the movie will be great.

I read somewhere the The First Avenger: Captain America movie will be set in WWII, so my idea is to have Iron Man and the Avengers find Captain America frozen in the beginning of the Avengers movie, like in the comics, while looking for Namor. And then have the main villain be Ultron. But, since Ultron was created by Hank Pym that might be too much story to have to deal with. Just a thought.

I don't think drunken Tony would be the central plot point of a sequel, but I think it should be used for a side-plot. Also, I read that Ralphie said the script hasn't even been written yet, but that War Machine wouldn't appear in the 2nd movie. I did note that he didn't say Rhodes wouldn't put on the IM armor, just that "War Machine" wouldn't appear.

My idea is that, after Stark's proclamation at the end of IM, he'll need to convince people that IM really is his bodyguard after all. Rhodey will put on the armor to appear next to Stark so that people will think Stark isn't IM. Then someone will attack and Rhodey will have to fight them off.

MrJawbreakingEquilibrium, having Ultron be the villian with Hank Pym being his creator is actually perfect seeing as though Marvel's going to do an Ant-Man movie. The events of that movie can tie-in and lead right up to Avengers in that respect if they can pull it off right. My only thing with Hank Pym is that he'd be much more badass in Avengers if he was Giant Man rather than Ant-Man.

Plus, there seems to be no mention, at least not yet, of putting any girls in the Avengers. I don't wanna see a bunch of dudes fighting the whole time; it'd be nice to see a hot chick or two saving the world as well. Maybe they can tag the Wasp? Not sure about Scarlet Witch since Fox owns mutants and there's all that baggage with Quicksilver...

So is the next suit going to have a compass, stock and this thing which tells time? Will Iron Man be addicted to Ovaltine? And what special evil is Light Boy soap capable of?

Grover Dill does look like MODOK but so does Christian conservative Terrorist Bush, sorry I didnt mean to insult MODOK, I didnt want to but God told me I had to.
