CINESCAPE was able to learn a bit about next year's third LORD OF THE RINGS film from acclaimed director of the trilogy Peter Jackson amid hoopla for film number two, THE TWO TOWERS, which as you surely know opens Wednesday. The rotund director notes, "The third one I think is my favorite, I keep saying that to people."
Jaskon elaborated, "I liked the third one when I was shooting it, it is triumphant, it actually has this wonderful bittersweet sadness to it. It is biblical in its kind of climactic proportions. It is bigger than the second film, it is huge and it is also incredibly intimate."
The director found time to start readying it even amid the increasing anticipation and road appearances of the last month or two. Jackson says, "I have seen it a couple of times as a sort of assembly. I just started to cut it last week; but I have watched it at assemblies and it makes me cry more so than the first two. Frodo and Sam it just becomes a story of pure courage and love ... and support of each other ... this incredible courage, it is very touching. I don't want to talk about what happens in the end but it is incredibly sad."
