I think Chicago is the closest to me.  But I'm not driving 5 hours just to watch The Phantom Menace again, 3D or not.

Making the 3-D glasses look like Anakin's podracing goggles is a cute touch for the kids.  Most of the marketing for TPM in 3D seems to be aimed at children, which is definitely a good idea on the part of Fox and Lucasfilm.  They seem to recognize that adults generally don't like the movie, and are only going to go for the sake of their kids, who are too young to notice that the plot doesn't make any sense.

Bringing crap-tacular to a new dimension.

I'm there even though I'll have to settle for Empire 25. And I better get a set of those glasses otherwise I'm beating up the smallest kid I see and taking theirs

I still like 3D.  Those podracer glasses are cool looking.  The best of the turd prequels with Darth Maul.  I wish it was the phantom edit version.

So when the Phantom Menace came out originally, I saw it twice I think & I remember scenes being in the first showing of it that I never saw aftward, and I was just wondering if anyone else had that experience.  There were two scenes I remember.  One was an extended scene with the astromech droids trying to repair the hyperdrive & Jar-Jar Binks destroying one of the droids due to his clumsiness.  The other scene was when the Jedi and company were leaving Tantooine & Darth Maul was chasing Qui-Gon.  I could have sworn the first time I saw the film Darth Maul actually force jumped to the entrance ramp to the ship, but Qui-Gon pushed him and he fell back to the ground..  They also don't show up on the deleted scenes for the DVDs.  I didn't get the Blu-rays out of principle, so I don't know if they showed up there.

I was just curious if anyone else remembers seeing these scenes or if there were other scenes from other Star Wars films that mysteriously vanished.

How do you make a bad movie even worse?

Put it in 3D and re-release it as a cash grab.

Ugh!

it really is too bad that lots of people will likely go to this.  IF this does make lots of money, then we have five more years of bitching about it ahead of us, hopefully it's a bomb and Lucas ends the 3D re-re-release-re-re and re-re-retires like he promised.

I can't believe that something I loved so much growing up has become such a disgusting example of corporate greed.   If something new and original ever came out related to the Star Wars universe, then and only then will I spend my money on it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, after all these years of making so much money, any and all releases of the Star Wars saga should be free!  Give a little something back to the people who made you a living God Mr. Lucas!!!!
