Phil LaMarr is Gambit on new WOLVERINE toon

A pair of Marvel animation updates come to us from our friends at Marvel Animation Age:

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN

Phil LaMarr is set to guest star on the new 'Wolverine and the X-Men' show, playing the ragin' cajun Gambit. The episode, titled "Thieves Gambit" re-introduces the character to  viewers of the new take on X-Men. No word if Gambit will make regular appearances on the show.

LaMarr has a long association with comics-based fare on TV, having broken out as a player on 'MAD TV' and then transitioning into regular voice work on shows like 'Static Shock and 'Justice League', where he played Green Lantern.

Phil LaMarr as gambit was awesome. Unlike Gambit from X-Men the animated series, GaMarrbit blew stuff up. A lot. Massive property damage. Dude, seriously, "We need better locks." This show kicks ass like a teenager in a wetsuit & nunchucks!

LaMarr was also the Joker on "The Batman" cartoon on WB. He sucked.

Actually Flint and will need to research this to be correct, but Joker was done by Kevin Michael Richardson...and he sounded WAY TOO MUCH like Chester Cheetah. It definitely didn't work. Everytime he opened his mouth, I kept thinking "IT ISN'T BEING CHEESY" everytime Joker made his appearance

Phil LaMarr is great and I was sorry to see him go when he left Mad TV. As for voices, my favorite was him as The Black Vulcan on Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. "In My Pants."
