Phoenix Taking On Rodriguez's HERETIC

A new Renaissance-set action adventure thriller is on the horizon, reports Variety. Phoenix Pictures has bought Javier Rodriguez's spec script The Heretic. Phoenix's Mike Medavoy, Arnie Messer and David Thwaites will produce. Michael Connolly of Mad Hatter Films will executive produce.Production will begin by the first quarter.

Plot Concept:
The story revolves around a fallen priest-turned-hitman sent by a rogue archbishop to assassinate Martin Luther, only to discover that not everyone is telling the truth.

why not, history is full of great story and adventure, i ten times prefer this way to make movies instead of doing remakes....

It sounds pretty good. can't help but think of the Hitman movie that just came out, but set in the 15th century.

That sounds really cool, if nothing else just for the time period it is taking place in. Cool But the story sounds intriguing too. Rouge assassin priest. Hell it's probably based on a true story from the rennasaince (sorry, never could spell that word)(yeah I know theres a spell check, but whatever)

This sounds great. Love the time period.
Anybody ever see The Name of the Rose? That was a great movie mystery about this same time.
Who knows this kind of thing could have happened, we know the church was out to get Luther.
