Pick of the Week

Bandai Entertainment has picked up its second win in a row with the Pick of the Week voting going on here as this weeks release of Toward the Terra has taken the nod. They could even be considered to have won three weeks in a row if you want to put Lucky Star Vol. #2 into their category. Toward the Terra is a return to an approach that Bandai Entertainment used a few years back by putting out two volumes of a show at once but they've changed it up a bit this time around. The first two volumes, which have four episodes each, covers the first third of the series. They're putting it out in the two disc edition but they're also releasing the two discs separately, albeit it'll cost a little bit more to buy them separately if you want to sample the show, but personally we think it's best in the double disc edition as you really get a feel for the show in a fuller way. Of course, the downside to the release is that there is no English language audio, only the Japanese language with subtitles.
Complementing this release later in the winter will be Nozomi Entertainment's acquisition of DVD rights to the Toward the Terra movie, which was made over twenty five years ago and not long after the original manga run had ended. Few properties are adapted multiple times like this and the opportunity to see both of them in the same year is certainly a positive for fans of good classic science fiction anime.
