A little over two weeks ago we finally had the official tile for Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Disney also stated that the film would arrive in the over crowded summer of 2015.Deadline.com has announced that Disney is pushing the film back to 2016. It seems they want to give the script more time.
“the studio and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have an advanced outline from scribe Jeff Nathanson, who is writing. They have directors Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg, who did a great job with a modest budget on Kon-Tiki, but who are new to the big scale of a film like Pirates. The studio would have to get into production by February, which would mean prepping off the outline”. and then Disney said, “The decision was made that it wasn’t worth rushing until they are sure the script is right”.
Johnny Depp is still confirmed to return and why should Disney rush the film for 2015? They already have Avengers: Age of Ultron slated for release as well as the possibility of a Star Wars film arriving that year too.
The first four Pirates films grossed $3.7 billion, and the last installment, On Stranger Tides, crossed the $1 billion mark. I think this is probably for the best.
