It seems that while the follow-up to the sleeper hit PITCH BLACK is charging full speed ahead, Universal almost pulled the plug after announcing its hope to make a sequel.
It seems the studio, which is prepping the movie (called THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK) had a hard time wrapping their heads around returning star Vin Diesel's asking price of $12.5 million. Then THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS opened, and the decided to go forward.
The film will begin shooting, with Diesel in the role of his genetically-enhanced murder/soldier from BLACK, later this year.
