Pitt and DiCaprio Lead Tarantino's BASTARDS?

Just a week after it was finally confirmed that Quentin Tarantino's WWII flick Inglorious Bastards was getting out of development hell and set for an October production date, two casting possibilities have popped up online. There's been a rumor going that Pitt could be a possibility and Variety is now confirming that Quentin wants both Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio to co-star in his homage of the classic Dirty Dozen.

Pitt has some experience working with Tarantino from their experience on True Romance, where he played a small role as a stoner who couldn't give proper directions. Since production is going to roll in Germany and France, where Pitt and Angelina Jolie currently live, it seems likely the two may hook up again.

The director met with Brad in France on Tuesday to talk about the possibility of Pitt playing the key role of Aldo Raine. Tarantino also plans to meet with Leonardo DiCaprio for another lead role, that of Hans Landa, on Thursday.

Plot Summary: Quentin Tarantino's war epic "Inglorious Bastards" - a band of U.S. soldiers facing death by firing squad for their misdeeds are given a chance to redeem themselves by heading into the perilous no-man's lands of Nazi-occupied France on a suicide mission for the Allies.

This is sounding like its setting up to be pretty cool. Hans Landa sounds like a villains name. I don`t think Leo has ever played a bad guy so that could be damn heavy, like Deniro vs Pacino in Heat.

DiCaprio as Hans Landa aka "The Jew Hunter"...interesting choice. Usually, this type of role is offered to a "Tim Roth type". I think it could work if the "master race card" is played for affect. DiCaprio has the right look. Hell, the only time I see a "pretty-boy" play a character that is truly evil is in anime.

i dont usually post here but read this site alot. im completely shocked that there havent been 20 posts bashing this for being a remake. i guess since it has 2 big name actors and a big time director attached to it nobody cares lol.

We've already talked about this. It's not a remake. QT admits that it's his homage to Dirty Dozen and/or heavily influenced by dirty dozen. This is the same issue with the Red Dawn remake. It shouldn't be a remake--just a modern tale influenced by Red Dawn. I think Pitt and DeCrappio would be cool to see in a flick together.

Well, technically this is a remake of an old foreign film, as I understand it, which we tend to bash a bit less whytedragon. I’d personally never heard of it. So I ain’t got no stake in it in that sense. It’s been years and it isn’t well known.

If you mean that this is a sort of remake of The Dirty Dozen, Tarantino’s taking the concept (admitting quite willingly where his inspiration is coming from) and making it his own (which is very distinct) and giving it a new name to further cement it ain’t your daddy’s D12. Unlike the ball-less people behind such remakes as Day Of The Dead or Red Dawn, who were/are basically using a known title as lazy marketing tool. You can call Tarantino a lot of things but he ain’t lazy when it comes to making movies stand on their own. He’s also not taking a well known film that still stands up today and pointlessly remaking it out of love of himself *cough* Zombie *cough* Halloween *cough*cough*

Don’t really think the lack of bashing has anything to do with who’s starring.

But speaking of who is starring: SWEET!!

I wouldn't even care if it was just a remake. The film is old enough IMO and could use a re-introduction to today's generation and that's how I feel about most films that old.

Wanting Pitt and Dicaprio is almost a given now a days isn't it. Thor and Captain America? and who knows how many others want them. Dicaprio may be too busy, I know he has several projects announced.

Either way I'm down for anything Tarantino.

You let your tix out of your sight? Dudes, I'm breaking in to joeybaloney's house and stealing his tix. Save me the $ of buying my own!

LOL. Don't do it fft! I gots four cats and a dog on 24/7 guard duty and they are trouble. Cats'll tear your heart out and show it to you. The dog will chew up any rolls of paper towels you happen to be carrying and leave the remnants all over the floor.
