Actors Brad Pitt and Edward Norton will be reuniting for the first time since Fight Club for a new political thriller, STATE OF PLAY, says Variety. The project is based off a British miniseries. After Universal Pictures acquired the theatrical rights for it, they've put the project on their "high priority" list, grabbing Kevin MacDonald (The Last King of Scotland) to direct. Scribe Tony Gilroy worked on a rewrite of the film based on the six hour mini originally written by Paul Abbott.

Plot Summary: Centers on a congressman(Edward Norton) whose speedy political rise is threatened by an investigation into the death of his mistress. Pitt plays a politician-turned-journalist whose relationship with the solon is compromised when he oversees his newspaper's investigation into the murder and develops a relationship with the pol's estranged wife.

STATE OF PLAY begins filming this November.

Can't be worse than Fight Club

It can't be better than Fight Club because Fight Club fucken rocked and still does...Are you saying fight club was no good? because if you are you must have seen the Micronesian remake on PCP...

You mean, it can't be any GREATER than Fight Club. After all these years it still rocks and is in my Top 10. Always new everytime I see it...but some people just don't get it. But that's okay.

Anyway, IMO Pitt is at his best when he's off his rocker (mostly). Fight Club, Snatch, 12-Monkeys, etc. I don't see that happening in this flick but hopefully its still a good watch.

The key here will be NORTON...who I think overall is a better actor..ie PRIMAL FEAR,25th HOUR,American X,nominated for 2 oscars, etc etc...PITT will be the market pull and NORTON will have to carry the acting part..

You know, I still have never seen Fight Club. For some reason nobody would talk about it.

EvilMonkey, that made me chuckle. Now get back into your closet and finish off that doobie, listening to your Foghat.

I don`t know how anyone could dislike Fight Club, but I guess some people just don`t get it. Well, in all honesty the only people I know who didn`t like Fight Club were women. They found it a little misogynistic. I read the book too and that is even better than the movie.
Batman is probably right about Norton being a better actor although I`d say it was close. I actually find them sort of similar with the roles they take. They both do the brooding thing really well. Pitt is just more of draw because he`s always in the spotlight.
p.s. I am in no way trying to imply that videocide is a woman!

The first thing I thought when I saw this was:

YES!

These guys are both fantastic actors. I wouldn't even want to argue the who is better line. Norton has done some great stuff, if you haven't seen the illusionist see it it's great. But Pitt was pretty damn good in Joe Black, awesome in Babel, and I hear he is going to be nominated for The Assasination of Billy the Kid, which should be kick ass either way.

Anyway you look at it these guys are like the anitthesis of some of the other actors in their age group, they are intelligent, and choose their roles as much for content as for money making ability.

If you can't tell I'm wicked excited to see them paired up again.

Oh and BTW ... videocide what do you mean you don't like Fight Club ... WTF ... are you a woman? HA

Fight Club could be one of the best films of the last two decades... Bottom line... Generation X and Y got it, it was an anthem for them... a real commentary on what we were all feeling about the world... everyone else was like... What the f@#$ was that... and I'll be honest... that just made it even better...

raulendymion • Sep 12, 2007, 09:46am •
The first and second rules of fight club prevent me from talking about it, but how does one not get it? One of the most original movies in the last 20 years and way ahead of its time. Why is it the first person to post often has to say how much something sucks, and then give no reason for their opinion?
