Pitt & Paramount Search for Lost CITY

By: Jarrod Sarafin
Date: Tuesday, April 01, 2008

Paramount Pictures has preemptively bought Lost City of Z, a David Grann manuscript based on a September 2005 article in the New Yorker. The trade says that Brad Pitt is producing the feature through his Plan B shingle. He also has the Coen brothers' Burn After Reading hitting theaters in September and David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which Par will open in December. Another film with him set as a producer is the Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana vehicle The Time Traveler's Wife, which will debut in November.

Plot Concept: Grann's forthcoming nonfiction book concerns British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who was attempting to find the so-called City of Z when he and his party disappeared in 1925. Over the next 70 years, scores of explorers tried and failed to retrace Fawcett's path, including a 1996 expedition of Brazilian adventurers. Pitt would play Fawcett.

To me Pitt is a lot like Tom Cruise but without all the personal wacky shit...I will go see just about anything he is in and I am looking foreword to seeing how this turns out...

Well said mlaforcer. He's also got a decent sense of humor. He's in alot of videos on funnyordie.com doing & saying some shit you wouldn't expect. Great stuff. Check it out.

Glad to see him getting some props here. Often, he's just bashed as being a pretty boy, but I think he's a damn good actor, and turning out to be a decent producer as well.

I used to hate Arm Pitt, and I'm not sure why(Maybe it was just his boyish prissy face), but I'll admit he's a good actor and over the years I've really enjoyed his movies.
I like the idea of mysterious cities of treasure or whatever. I'll be waiting for the trailer.

I'd like to see him do more action or comedy films. As matter of fact, Apatow should get in touch with Pitt and do a movie together.

"GOOD ACTOR"???? Did I actually hear those words being reffered to brad Pitt? He's the worst OF the worst!!! He was only good in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.. and thats because the role called for stupidity.

I guess I fall in the middle, although not a great actor he's fairly capable. But to compare him to Cruise is ridiculous IMO. His resume is nowhere near as impressive, role wise or b.o. wise. Cruise is or was until very recently as good as gold at the b.o. I think the only person you can compare to Cruise right now is Will Smith.

I can't remember seeing a bad Brad Pitt movie. A river runs through it is one of my all time favorite movies.
