Pitt walking away from Araonofsky's THE FOUNTAIN?

The buzz has exploded around Hollywood in the last few days that Brad Pitt is looking for a way out of Darren Aronofky's THE FOUNTAIN. While there are all kinds of rumors ricocheting around the net and the town film built, the upshot seems to be this.
Pitt is unhappy with the latest draft of the script, which is the shooting draft at this late date. Shooting begins in October for the film which tells the story of man whose life spans 1000 years, from the 1500s through the year 2500. This word comes after it seemed Warner Bros. was going to pass on the film before giving it a surprise greenlight a few months ago.
While it's not definitely known if Pitt will step away or not, the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER is running a story saying Aronofsky and Warner Bros. are looking at Russell Crowe, Mel Gibson and George Clooney as possible replacements.
We'll keep you posted.
