For the comic fans in the audience, let me toss at you five words: Saturday morning cartoon by Alan Moore. Interested?

Platinum Studios, an entertainment company that specializes in bringing comic book properties to film and television (they brought the French comic book JEREMIAH to Showtime), has brokered a one-year, first-look deal with Walt Disney Television Animation. The company, which has already over 1,000 characters in its creative arsenal, is poised to start submitting ideas for new TV shows to the Disney Channel and ABC Family channel. To bring these new programs to the small screen Platinum has hired Karen Lee Brown, a veteran kids TV show producer, to develop the properties. And there's already two in active development that Platinum has announced: Alan Moore's RADAR, THE HOUND SUPREME and Ben Dunn's QUAGMIRE, USA.

Fans of Alan Moore's SUPREME comic might recall his superpowered pooch RADAR who can fly and can even talk (thanks to a voice box around his neck.) This is Moore's first project being aimed at the kids audience.

Dunn's QUAGMIRE, USA takes place in a small town where just about everything that can be imagined is coming to visit. Whether it's alien spaceships, talking animals, ninja princesses or superheroes, they're entering Quagmire's city limits and getting into trouble.

And Platinum is looking for the next cool thing to come from comic creators -- and that might be from you. "This deal allows us to be very open to pitches from creators for concepts that make sense as a comic and as an animated series or feature," Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Platinum Studios Chairman, tells us. "Disney's allowing us to come in without full presentations, and with multiple pitches from creators. We're more than happy to option existing comics, finance new graphic novels and mini-series (which we'll distribute through other publishers), or to subsidize indy publishers if we think a property can work in other media."

If you think you've got The Next Big Thing and are looking for someone to take a look at it, visit the Platinum Studios website for submissions guidelines and info.
