Anime News Network is reporting that the Sony PlayStation Home service will be showing a virtual concert soon starting Megumi Nakajima and Aya Endo who play Ranka and Sheryl in Macross Frontier. Japanese site Hachima Kiko reported on this earlier in the week when the news came through via the actresses short program as they announced that the concert will be of the virtual nature as 3D versions of the anime characters will be used. The Macross Frontier franchise is gearing up for their second film which is set to release in Japan at the end of February, Macross Frontier ~Sayonara no Tsubasa~, and this is some straightforward promotion for it that should work pretty well and drive more people towards the game consoles service. Similar events of different nature have been done with the US PSN Home service as well for TV shows and movies as well as several anime screenings of popular shows.
Macross Frontier, along with other iterations of the Macross franchise after the Macross Plus OVA series, continue to be unavailable outside of Japan because of numerous licensing issues, lawsuits and rights ownership issues.
