Lionsgate has updated their media site with some new details for upcoming projects and one is their upcoming remake of My Bloody Valentine 3-D, a visual update of the killer tale. The horror remake stars Jaime King, Jensen Ackles, Kerr Smith, Edi Gathegi, Kevin Tighe, Megan Boone and Betsey Rue. Director Patrick Lussier is leading the project, based on a screenplay by Zane Smith.

Plot Summary: Ten years ago, a tragedy changed the town of Harmony forever. Tom Hanniger, an inexperienced coal miner, caused an accident in the tunnels that trapped and killed five men and sent the only survivor, Harry Warden, into a permanent coma. But Harry Warden wanted revenge. Exactly one year later, on Valentine's Day, he woke up...and brutally murdered twenty-two people with a pickaxe before being killed.

Ten years later, Tom Hanniger returns to Harmony on Valentine's Day, still haunted by the deaths he caused. Struggling to make amends with his past, he grapples with unresolved feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Sarah, who is now married to his best friend, Axel, the town sheriff. But tonight, after years of peace, something from Harmony's dark past has returned. Wearing a miner's mask and armed with a pickaxe, an unstoppable killer is on the loose. And as his footsteps come ever closer, Tom, Sarah and Axel realize in terror that it just might be Harry Warden who's come back to claim them...

My Bloody Valentine 3-D will hit theaters January 23, 2009.

No axel. They are staying pretty close to the original.which may or may not be a good thing.Axel is the killer and tom saves the day the End.

This sounds like shite! Sorry, I know that is just a reflex reaction but it does sound like shite. And what the hell does Valentines Day have to do with any of it? Shite!

We'll in the original the killer " Harry Warden" killed a bunch of people on Valentines Day. Due to the fact that when the minors got trapped people were partying during a valentines day dance. He also used to cut the hearts out of people and put them in a valentines candy box and send it to people. Hence My Bloody Valentine.

At least it sounds like they are sticking with the original story with some of the same characters. Im eager to see what the minor outfit looks like cause in the original it looked creepy.

Yeah i wonder if they'll do the Axel twist and have him end up being the killer.

I hardly remember any details from the original, except I think he stuck someone in a washing machine I think. The miner's outfit was pretty creepy at the time. I want to see this, some good old fashion gore in 3D.
Anyway it sounds like there was more than just one survivor.

Thanks Dallas, that actually makes sense and sounds more interesting. Now, I get the whole Valentine`s Day thing.

I do hope they retain the likeness of the killer. The whole Miners outfit complete with gasmask and goggles was pretty cool. And the PickAxe was just as important. I really liked the original. It had some sinister kills. This needs a remake about as little as any other movie in recent years, but it's quite inevitable, so we should all just get over the fact and try to enjoy what they do.

When I was a kid, mom watched it while folding laundry, the dryer scene came up, show almost tossed her lunch... mom's a lightweight.

Why 3D? Every recent film i've seen where they've encorproated 3D has been annoying and crud. 3D films are useless.
