Veteran performer Christopher Plummer is the latest addition to David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, with Heat Vision confirming he's set to play the patriarch who pays to reopen an unsolved murder. Plummer joins the previously locked in stars Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Stellan Skarsgard, Max von Sydow and Robin Wright. Set to be the first film in a trilogy over at Sony Pictures, Fincher is leading the action based on a screenplay by Steve Zaillian. Production is underway in Sweden.
Plot Concept: Based on Stieg Larsson's posthumously published crime thriller trilogy, "The Millennium Series." The book describes the mystery surrounding the long-unsolved disappearance of an heiress. A journalist (Craig) recently dinged by a libel case and a young female hacker (Mara) try to resolve it, stirring up bundles of personal and industrial corruption along the way. The two are hired by a wealthy industrialist (Plummer) to solve a 40-year unsolved murder, but the case uncovers a web of familial corruption.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will hit theaters December 21, 2011.
