Pokemania

Welcome to another Countdown where others offer a twelve bits of knowledge and we provide a baker’s dozen free of charge. There are plenty of games out this week, which I am glad to see, but there are also a few downloadable games you should check out on your consoles. I am actually tied up lately with the Castlevania game on the Xbox 360, but Bonk’s Revenge has also been released on the Wii. But before I bore you with my gaming collection let us move onto this week’s releases.
Fast & the Furious (PSP) - Well of course a few months back we got to try out the PS2 version of Fast & the Furious and honestly it was not as great as I had hoped. It felt that it would be better as a portable game, and well... months later here it is to join the other racing games on the PSP.
Generation of Chaos: Aedis Eclipse (PSP) - A PSP RPG that I have been waiting a few months for because I generally enjoy any game that NIS pumps out. Like the previous Generation of Chaos game you are part of three different groups, switching the perspective whenever you wish, which allows you to bounce between them trying to conquer the other groups. The combat system is a bit more advanced this time, making it what the first one should have been... Very entertaining.
The Cube (PSP) - The Cube is a highly addictive strategy-puzzle game that challenges players to make their way through suspended 3D worlds of platforms and mazes. The PSP decently pulls off plenty of puzzle games so this one should also be entertaining.
F.E.A.R. (PS3) - Just a general port of the F.E.A.R. game to the PS3.
EverQuest: Anniversary Edition (PC) - Do you like the idea of revisiting one of the most popular MMOs of all time? Well why revisit one and all of their expansions as well? If you were planning on trying to beat it all in a month, well you are going to need a lot of luck to do that, but at least you can enjoy what used to be the most addicting MMO.
Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (PC) - Are you ready for another Lord of the Rings game? Well this one is a little bit different from others because it tries to tap into the MMO world. It seems that that MMO realm is being cluttered with plenty of interesting games, but what this game does to set itself apart is offer a slightly different approach than most MMO's. It will allow you to buy a life long subscription for only $199.99, and that could save you money in the end. The game is pretty entertaining as well, so if you are sick of WOW you could always try this similar game.
Bionicle Heroes (Wii) - Created by the people behind the Lego Star Wars games, this title has hit up other consoles before heading on over to the Wii. It should be a pretty good game to pick up if you do not feel like playing Pokemon this week.
Pokemon Diamond / Pearl (DS) - Will this game reinvent everything Pokemon as we know it? That remains to be seen, but the game does have over half of a million pre-orders on hand to satisfy the fans. This will be a very important game to pick up if you have a DS and a Wii because later in the year we will see the first online game in general with the latest Pokemon Coliseum. Since it is a giant step for Nintendo's consoles I am going to give it the nod for Game of the Week.
SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters (DS) - As geeky as it sounds not only is the game card based but also a game that mixes in a bunch of their franchise. There are plenty of cards to unlock and plain old lunacy to enjoy.
At least this week has a few more games than last week, which is enough to entertain me. There are a few titles this week that I recommend picking up like NIS’s latest game Generation of Chaos: Aedis Eclipse. I also recommend the new SNK game or even the Lord of the Rings MMO for fun. I am curious about the Wii and the Internet connection that the new Pokemon Coliseum game will open up with it. Hopefully it comes off with a beautiful experience that I know Nintendo can produce. Anyways this is Captain Gordon signing off.
