For the past month, casting auditions have been going for the upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA film by Warner Bros. Well, the Hollywood Reporter has indicated a list of these young thespians who have tried out for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter. The trade reports that director George Miller has seen 35-40 actors in the selection process and that he will be submitting a list of likely candidates to WB by the middle of this week. While we don't know specifically which role they auditioned for, we can wage a guess or two by actors' looks. Not to mention there's only one female superhero...Though, of course, there could be other female roles in the film which the actresses are trying out for...

Here's a list of people who auditioned for roles in the JLA film:

Adam Brody (The O.C.)

Joseph Cross (Running With Scissors)

D.J. Cotrona ("Windfall")

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Grindhouse)

Michael Angarano (Sky High)

Teresa Palmer (The Grudge 2)

Max Thieriot (Jumper)

Common(Left)

Minka Kelly (NBC's Friday Night Lights)

Adrianne Palicki (NBC's Friday Night Lights)

Scott Porter (NBC's Friday Night Lights)

Keep in mind that others have also auditioned for the various roles in the movie. These are just the actors confirmed today by Hollywood Reporter as possible choices.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA hits theaters Summer 2009.

If these are the type of people they are looking at for leaguers, then they are going for a much younger bunch than I would have imagined.

...or liked for that matter...although that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is pretty freakin' hot! However...that's not the point...none of these so-called thespians have got the chops to take on these legendary characters...and we already have enough of the teen angsty drama krap on Smallville...and that is pretty much all these actors are good at...so if this is what George Miller has in mind I will pass and stick with Smallville! (I never said I didn't like the teen angsty drama krap or Smallville...however that kinda story is not what I want to see on a BIG SCREEN, live action adaptation of the Justice League!)

Well I certainly hope these aren't the new faces of the JLA. This looks much more like a cast for a JLA tv show on the CW than a tentpole studio movie release.

Also, am I wrong in thinking I read somewhere that the studio/director had older acters (mid 30's-40's) in mind for the Superman/Batman roles?

When exactly did McG become casting director?!

This is BULLSH#T!!! I actually thought they were rushing this out to please fans, then I see that they are just going for a JLA 90210 vibe. They didn't have to it in Xmen... Hell, they don't even draw them that young in the JLA cartoon, they are a mature team of crime fighters. Even if this is an origin story, I will probably skip it now. WHY CAN'T WE EVER HAVE A GUY AS SUPERMAN, WHO ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A SUPERMAN?!!!

This casting list is a joke right ?
Ummmmmmm this is the Justice League !
Not the bloody Teen Titans !!!
Ooh my god this film is doomed !!!

If you can't wait for the JLA movie, check out this DVD with film trailers for "World's Finest" featuring Superman and Batman; and "Grayson" about the 'death' of Batman. It will tide your appetite over until (if?) the release of the JLA movie!

Wow...I'm starting to think that Hollywood hates us all. Could it be, they just want our money SO badly that they would just throw anything with any number of evil robot monkeys on a screen and tell them to dance, and expect us to buy it? No friends.....Evil Robot monkeys would have a better chance of getting me into a cinaplex than this crap. Why should we go pay for something we could get in High school for free?

Hold up ... are we sure the rapper is the guy on the left?
Not the white guy who's a dead ringer for Jeremy Piven?
Really Mania?

Love that sarcasm, TotallyClover. I did that because some people may not know who Jeremy Piven or Common is. I know a few people who have never seen a Star Wars film before & never heard of John Williams or James Horner..Hard as it is to believe, there's likely someone out there whom have never listened to a rap song by Common nor seen the great work of Piven.

Love how that's your only contribution to the discussion though. Sarcasm. That's seldom seen here on the internet... :)

As far as the JLA movie, I feel your pain guys on a lot of fronts.

One, rushed movies on this scale makes for disasters.

Two, this ambitious a project in the timeframe needed has "Back to development hell" written all over it. Does anyone really think they get this film shot by June 2008?

Three, it should be noted that these are only the stars Hollywood Reporter has heard about. There probably have been older and much more established thespians whom we haven't heard about trying for these roles. As sportswarrior said in comment #3, Bats and Supes may be cast from a more established older actor. But yes, this group of "young" actors have auditioned for the roles says HR and if any of them get cast, then I share your fears...Bring out a rushed JLA Mtv-esque film? No thank you, Warner Bros.
