MEN IN BLACK III Casting Rumors

Bloody Disgusting reports that there have been rumblings from Columbia Picture about the long-planned 'Men in Black III' movie. The film with find the franchise moving on with a new cast.

As previously rumored, actor Josh Brolin is still said to be likely to star, but who will be his partner in alien affairs management?

Bloody claims that the studio have "shown strong interest" in Sacha Baron Cohen ('Bruno') and Jemaine Clement ('The Flight of the Conchords') for a character named "Yaz". It's unclear if Yaz is the partner to Brolin's character or possibly the villain of the film.

Etan Cohen ('Tropic Thunder') has written the script and some projected filming to start this spring, although that seems optimistic at this point.

Scott Porter is not CAPTAIN AMERICA Either

Another actor has eliminated himself from the running for the lead role in 'The First Avenger: Captain America'. According to io9.com, Scott Porter of 'Friday Night Lights' fame told his fans on Facebook that he will not be appearing in the film.

Porter was one of seven actors named on a rumored short list a few weeks back. He's the second to publicly bow out. Actor Michael Cassidy also tweeted that he's no longer a contender last week.

THE PHANTOM Coming in June

Remember that updated, 21st Century, made-for-TV version of 'The Phantom' that we heard about last year? According to PhantomSite.net we can expect to see the movie on SyFy Channel in June of this year.

The movie, based on the classic comic strips by Lee Falk, stars Ryan Carnes as a young man living in America who learns that he is descended from the immortal line of heroes that are 'The Phantom'.

Thanks to CaptainSigma for the submission.

Fonda wants Bosworth for BARBARELLA

According to the Showbiz 411 blog, the star of the original 'Barbarella' has chosen her preferred successor.

Actress Jane Fonda apparently met Kate Bosworth ('Superman Returns') at the post-Oscar Vanity Fair party and told those within earshot, "I want her to do the ‘Barbarella’ sequel!"

Universal has been struggling to return the European space queen to the big screen for over a decade now. The most promising of recent efforts had director Robert Rodriguez trying to realize his vision, although he threw his hands up and walked away from the project in 2008. Since then director Robert Luketic has been attached as director with one Joe Gazzam penning the script.

So on the one hand, Fonda has no real say in the matter. As far as we know she's not a producer on the film or anything and Bosworth can hardly be considered to be attached at this point. On the other hand, Luketic worked with Fonda on 'Monster in Law' and Bosworth did appear in two of his prior features ('Win a Date with Tad Hamilton' and '21') so it's possibly that she actually is flirting with the role.

KICK-ASS Posters

Lionsgate has released the official outdoor art for 'Kick-Ass' featuring the four primary characters from the film. Watch for them pasted up on bus stops and construction sites near you!

Lionsgate also reminds fans headed out to the SXSW Film Festival in Austin this week to check out the World Premiere screening of the film at the Paramount Theater on Friday, March 12th at 7:30pm. IRON MAN 2 Theater Art

In the wake of the super cool, post-Oscar trailer for 'Iron Man 2', Marvel Entertainment and Paramount have released four new images from the film.

The first is a 3D Standee featuring torso busts of War Machine and Iron Man, separated by the number "2".

The next two are also labeled as "standees" but they look more like posters to us. Paramount was kept the details of the artwork pretty scare so it's hard to say. One features Iron Man in the Mark V while the other shows War Machine. If you spot these in your theater lobby, let us know.

Finally, we have a new still featuring Tony Stark in Mark IV armor, facing off with somebody in the Mark II armor. Now, you'll recall scenes from the trailer which show Iron Man fighting someone in the Mark II. We suspected that the battle was more friendly training and less of an actual battle. This photo seems to seems to confirm it as Stark and the mystery person seem to be engaging in a ceremonial face-to-face as two boxers might.

So who is in the armor? Is it Rhodey in training? Natasha? Could it even be pepper? We'll find out on May 7th. In the mean time, enjoy the new images:

Good!  It sounds like Thor won't be turning into the doctor...that would have been stupid.

Wiseguy 3/9/2010 8:15:31 AM

THOR has me giddy with excitement. Can't wait for some footage or production pictures.

All the guys rumored to be up for Captain America are dropping like pins when I bowl. Somebody needs to step up their game. I think the guy from the Office is the only one left. Giddy with excitement

I'm going to nominate Tracy Morgan to be the second guy in MIB, that's right

Iron Man 2 looks sweet, I'm giddy with excitement, oh wait I said that about Thor and Captain America and The Avengers

Bosworth as Barbarella? Yuck, Barbarella isn't supposed to be anorexic. Fonda needs to shut the hell up

nightwingDG 3/9/2010 8:16:27 AM

MIB 3, Barbarella - Don't care.

Captain America - I'm tired of hearing who isn't Cap, I wanna know who is.

Thor - Can't wait, I think this will be really cool.

Kickass - Ready for it right now.

Iron Man 2 - I think people on here are hyping it too much, it can't live up to those expectations.

Rheul_home 3/9/2010 8:20:13 AM

All of the Marvel news is good. I have high hopes for Kick Ass. As for The Phantom... Come on... The character is completely dated. He just has not aged well. Lets see a well done Tarzan film. The Shadow? How about a faithful Doc Savage? There are plenty of pulp characters that are more deserving of the Hollywood treatment than The Phantom.

jdnobody 3/9/2010 8:37:22 AM

MIB 3: Not really sold on those casting choices.

Captain America:  Still think that Mark Valley from "The Human Target" would be a great choice.

Thor:  Not real sure I'm care too much about this one.  I will have to see if they can "wow" me with a trailer.

KickAss: I'm down.

Iron Man 2- I hope does live up to the hype...but hype is a scary machine.

Chadghostal 3/9/2010 8:39:52 AM

Well damn it. Michael Cassidy and Scott Porter were the only two candidates on that list that I thought would do a near decent job. Hopefully it's someone completely new.

Kate Boswell was terrible as Lois Lane.  Her interpretation of the character cannot even hold up a candle to Margot Kidder.  Even Erica Durance makes a better Lois Lane.  I can't even see Boswell as Barbarella.

msglover 3/9/2010 9:28:14 AM

Never been a big fan of MIB.  The stories were always too simple and the movies way too short.  the animated series was much better in story telling.

DarthDuck 3/9/2010 9:28:25 AM

HAVE AT THEE, BOX OFFICE!!!!

gauleyboy420 3/9/2010 9:35:25 AM

evilbeagle, what gives you the impression Thor won't turn into Donald Blake... did I read something wrong in the synopsis.

GO SEE KICK-ASS...SEE IT IT's AWESOME!
