Way too long to try to make a sequel of this. They might want to think of rereleasing the film at the box office first. Reintroduce the film to children and teens once again, most don't know this movie.

News from Garth Franklin over at Dark Horizons comes very sad news to me. The Dark Crystal was a great movie, full of imagination. I was excited to hear that a sequel to this was maybe going to happen. It had stalled for along time, but now it is going straight to video, which I hate. I wish Hollyweird would STOP taking GREAT movies and turn them into crap, which means, going straight to video. The movies that go straight to video are done cheap and are usually very disappointing to see done that way. Hollywood, stop doing that. You know people get exciting about movies that are being continued into sequel, then they stall, and finally get turned into a sad crappy story, instead of sending it to the movie theatres where we can experience the movie in it's glory, giving a new generation a chance to fall in love with a great story that once was. Here's what I read from Garth at Dark Horizons.

Several films originally scheduled to go theatrical have been shoved directly onto DVD this week.

"The Power of The Dark Crystal" may be released immediately to DVD in late 2008 or early 2009 according to Muppet Central.

"Halloween" actress Scout Taylor-Compton has said on her MySpace that the upcoming remake of slasher flick "April Fool's Day" is going direct-to-DVD on March 25th, skipping theatres altogether.

Finally "Blonde and Blonder" - a comedy teaming Denise Richards and Pamela Anderson - is heading straight to DVD on February 5th.
