interesting choice.

If Marvel can do what they did with Chris Evans for Captain America, they can certainly do the same thing with him, he can probably act in a serious way I'm sure.

Marvel will make him a star like they did with Hemsworth who is now one of the more in demand actors out there.

I for one am glad they went with a relative unknown

Awesome.  This movie is going to be the biggest sleeper hit of the year.  I am calling right now.  It is like Marvel Star Wars.  How can that lose?  I say it cannot.

Cool bio.

Agree Wise. Sometimes casting a big name can go to their heads.

I heard they had offered the part to Joseph Gordon Levitt (no audition, straight up offer) and he declined due to prior comittment. I like JGL but I think his star has risen and it might be difficult to secure an actor like this long term. Look what happened casting a big name in role in the past. Ben Affleck, Ed Norton and Nic Cage.

This is exactly what they did with Hemsworth. Marvel Studios (or Ken Branagh?) saw potential in him. He was in 4 movies last year and many more on the horizon. You could almost say the same for Hugh Jackman and the X-men movies.

I don't know if I'm in the minority but I really can't wait for this movie. It's funny how I read a lot of negative comments about the GotG movie here and some other boards and people wanting more Black Panther or Daredevil instead. I guess it's because these guys are less popular. I think just adapting another Marvel character gerts repetitive (the street scenes, NY city, a rich guy with gadgets, etc...) I just love the concept of GotG because it's different. Superheroes in space. How often do we see that?

I like this guy, I love Parks & Rec so he's not really "unkown" to me or the people who watch but it's pretty cool to see him moving up in the world and getting into movies.  His tiny role in Zero Dark compared to the extensive physical work he did for the part are clear indicators that he's dedicated to his craft and he seems to have the right personality to be in an ensemble cast.

Good director, good first casting choice.......this film will likely kick all kinds of ass......

This casting seems fine by me. I've never seen Parks & Rec and only really remember him from Wanted as the best friend. And since I'm not familiar with any of this version of the GotG whatever Marvel does for casting will be fine by me.

The GotG to me were less superheroes than more of The A-Team in space. With Star-Lord as a mash up of Hannibal and Faceman,  Drax as BA Baracus, and Rocket Raccoon as Murdock.

It will be interesting to see how much of Peter Quill's bio that they use since it's pretty complicated they'd have to pair it down to make it work.

I just want Gamora on the big screen. Badass scantily clad green chick.

Please tell me Anna Faris will no be in this
