At the South by Southwest Film Festival in Robert Rodriguez's home territory of Austin, Texas this weekend, 20th Century Fox showed off some clips for Predators, the next installment in the blockbuster franchise under the eye of producer Rodriguez. And just in case you couldn't make the trip, the studio has provided Mania.com with the clip and also posted them online courtesy of the film's official website.

Check out the behind-the-scenes featurette with some clips from the upcoming adventure on the page below, or find a higher-res version at Predators-Movie.com

The film will star Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali and Louiz Ozawa. Director Nimrod Antal helmed the production from a screenplay by Robert Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch. The film was primarily shot shot on location under Rodriguez's creative control at the filmmaker's Austin-based Troublemaker Studios.

Plot Concept: The film stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet... as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers – mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members – human "predators" that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.

Predators will hit theaters July 7, 2010.

Doesn't look bad at all. Let's hope it's as good as the original, which is impossible, but here's hoping to it.

Might be ok as a movie, but will suck as a sequel. If I can completely remove the memory of the original from my head before I see it, I may give this one a shot. Otherwise, I'll be comparing it the entire time.  The predator hound looked pretty dumb.  Also, the "clips" were just fans talking about how great it was. Ripoff...

Interesting stuff. I have more hope now. If Robert is serious about fleshing the characters out, there is a chance that he could achieve his goal of matching the original, which had several structural problems and some very archetypal/stereotypical characters. It was also limited by what they could do with the special effects at the time, which were innovative. The reliance on action (and by that I guess I mean gunplay) in the original effectively overcame a lot of the SFX shortcomings (well, not shortcomings so much as budgetary constraints).

It will be interesting to see if he can blend the two more effectively without making an Avatar cartoon. The original had that intensity that the later films lacked. He needs to hit that mark as well to surpass the original. A tall order, but not undoable.

Predator 2 was better than Predator. Get over it. I am looking forward to this but it has been 20 years between movies so that ain't blockbuster even if you count AlienversusPalins.

Pleaee kill Christopher Toepherjam Grace very violently.

Would have been nice to have seen some Alien Plant/Tree/Flower CGI instead of everything looking like it was transplanted from Earth. Action looks like its gonna be good. That Pred Beast looks alright. In a way to me its kinda pointless, these people were hunted and captured by Preds to begin with only to be hunted again! Of course the second time they'll 1) know their coming and 2) they get the use of Earth weapons! Havent read any new lately to see if Arnold is still tied to make a cameo or not, would be cool! Fishburne is always cool. He has that mindset to analyse the situation and still make it creepy despite the odds. Still not crazy about Brody being in this, I laughed in the past in the mention that his character was a hunter of men. Just didnt fit, sorry. I do look forward to seeing more trailers and eventually the big show!

Looks better than I thought and that shot of Brody being aimed by a bunch of Predators was money.  Not feeling the Predator Dogs.

I guess Hollywood didn't learn anything from the Hulk Dogs.

RR is a great director and considering he makes such quality flicks using such much of a lower budget than most makes him even better. I'm looking forward to this.

Looks pretty damn good. I liked everything I saw
