As expected, Steven Spielberg's A.I. took the weekend's top spot, though it certainly wasn't a massive weekend hit. The film, which had been long in development by the late Stanley Kubrick, took in an estimated $30,135,000 in its opening weekend. In the process, it bumped last week's top spot holder, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, down to number two with an additional $20,000,000. Here are the rest of the top ten figures:

1. A.I., $30,135,000 this weekend, $30,135,000 since opening

2. THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS, $20,000,000 this weekend, $77,815,000 since opening

3. DR. DOLITTLE 2, $15,401,000 this weekend, $51,016,000 since opening

5. BABY BOY, $8,600,000 this weekend, $11,682,000 since opening

6. ATLANTIS, THE LOST EMPIRE, $7,800,000 this weekend, $57,951,000 since opening

7. SHREK, $7,050,000 this weekend, $227,485,000 since opening
