The teen-FATAL ATTRACTION film SWIMFAN took over the top spot from recent champion SIGNS, while Robert DeNiro's cop drama CITY BY THE SEA was strong enough to open in third place. Outside of that, the top ten looks like a snapshot of the summer, with AUSTIN POWERS, XXX still slotted and a double-feature of SPIDER-MAN and MEN IN BLACK helping both of those films to return to the top ten.
Here's the rest:
1. SWIMFAN, $12.4 million this weekend, $12.4 million since opening.
2. MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING , $10.6 million this weekend, $96.0 million since opening.
3. CITY BY THE SEA , $9.1 million this weekend, $9.1 million since opening.
4. SIGNS, $8.0 million this weekend, $205.8 million since opening.
