Premieing THE GRUDGE
By: Sue SchneiderDate: Tuesday, October 26, 2004
The number one movie in America is THE GRUDGE, which opened on October 22nd nationwide. Columbia Pictures held the premiere a week earlier at the Mann Village Theater in Westwood, California.
THE GRUDGE is based on the Japanese hit JU-ON: THE GRUDGE and is from producers Sam Raimi (EVIL DEAD, DARKMAN, SPIDER-MAN and SPIDER-MAN 2), Rob Tapert (THE GIFT, EVIL DEAD, HERCULES and XENA) and Taka Ichise (RINGU and DARK WATER).
THE GRUDGE is the curse of someone who has died in the grip of a powerful rage and the story goes that those who encounter this supernatural curse die and a new one is born. It's passed on like a virus and is an endless, growing chain of horror. Although most of the violent scenes were cut, you can be sure that when THE GRUDGE arrives on DVD they'll be back.
Seen on the red carpet were the stars of the film: Sarah Michelle Gellar (who looked like Cinderella in her dress and bow-tie shoes), Jason Behr, Bill Pullman, KaDee Strickland, William Mapother, Ryo Ishibashi, Yoko Maki, Ted Raimi, Clea DuVall, Grace Zabriskie, Rosa Blasi, Director Takashi Shimizu, Producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Taka Ichise.
Joining them were guests: Julie Ann Emery, Dule Hill, Lucy Lawless, Ken Watanabe, Kerr Smith, Bruce Campbell and many others.
