Arriving in comic book shops today is
LUCIFER #50, an extra-sized special edition of DC Comics/Vertigo's tale of the first fallen angel. First introduced in the pages of
THE SANDMAN by writer Neil Gaiman, Lucifer was the most powerful and brighest of angels before he led a revolt against God and was cast down from Heaven and into Hell. During Gaiman's run on
SANDMAN Lucifer renounced his hellish kingdom and decided to walk the Earth. When it was decided that the character would receive his own spinoff series, writer Mike Carey came onboard to continue Lucifer's journey from fallen angel to creator of his own universe. Now, in the book's fiftieth issue, Carey chose to reveal his version of Lilith, the first woman created by God to be Adam's companion. As Carey tells Lilith's tale he also reveals the origins of The Silver City (the place where the angels dwell) and the true nature of the relationship between Lucifer and his major domo, Mazikeen.
The DC Comics website is offering a free five page preview of the issue which is drawn by Eisner-award winner P. Craig Russell.

LUCIFER #50 is recommended for mature readers, is priced at $3.50 and is 48 pages in length.
