What They Say
Madoka accidentally witnesses the secret practice session going down at the gymnasium. After deciding the police must be informed, she tells Wakana of her plans. Unfortunately Wakana is already involved in the Gymnastics of Darkness and she warns Tomomi that their cover is about to be blown.

After successfully kidnapping Madoka, Nikusuke decides it's Tomomi's turn for a lesson. All the ladies join Nikusuke to torture Tomomi in many ways. Let the wild orgy start!

The Review!
While the production values remain solid the enjoyment factor drops off heavily in these two episodes as the content just makes my stomach churn..

Audio:
For our primary viewing session, we listened to this show in its original language of Japanese. The series has a standard stereo mix that's mostly center channel based for dialogue. There isn't a whole lot of noticeable directionality across the forward soundstage but when the really good musical score kicks in it comes across well using both channels. Both language tracks sounded good during regular playback and we had no trouble with dropouts or other distortions.

Video:
Originally released to video back in 2002, these two OVAs are presented here in their original full frame format using some really good looking materials for the transfer. Other than a general softness to the print which may be intentional, these episodes look fantastic and have a lot of really fluid sequences. There's a richness and warmth to the color palette used, between the greens and the pinks, which give this show an interesting feel. The show is free from cross coloration but does have some noticeable aliasing in a few scenes. Beyond that and the general soft feeling, this is a really good looking show.

Packaging:
Showcasing some of the shows really great character designs and artwork, and this time featuring the two main characters from the first volume in their gymnastic outfits, the covers for this series are just gorgeous. The use of the circles and line work with my favorite shades of blue tied in with the bits like the roses and the ribbons works really well. The back cover provides a number of screenshots from the show and a decent short summary of the shows premise. The usual round of production information is near the bottom along with the always useful technical grid. The insert uses the style from the front cover darkened up a bit to list the two volumes chapter stops while the reverse side is just advertisements. This release is in a clear keepcase but there isn't anything but white space on the reverse side.

Menu:
The menu layout uses the style of the front cover and keeps it in static form while adding the selections along the left with a little bit of rearrangement. With no music playing, this is a very barebones menu setup but it's quick and functional and does look good. Access times are nice and fast and navigation easy to do. The disc however did not read our player presets and played with just English language and no sign/song subtitles.

Extras:
None.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With the first volume of Princess 69, there was plenty of content that just didn't appeal to us but it was kept fairly minimal in some ways and the fact that there was something of an amusing layer of plotline and character interaction, never mind some gorgeous animation, we were able to get past a lot of it and actually enjoy the show quite a bit.

Then the second volume with the final two episodes went into the player.

The plot continues on much the same as Tomomi's plans to create her Dark Gymnastics Club are moving along well enough now that they've brought on Miku and Yu and a few others. Tomomi sets her plans a bit higher and decides to set her sights on Wakana, the gymnastics teacher that's given the girls a fair amount of grief over the course of their time there. Along with the obligatory girl with glasses, she and Wakana are brought into the gymnasium late at night and put to the test along with her fianc and Nikusuke. For Nikusuke, he gets to have the teacher who had been a problem to him over time and as it turns out was his wife at one point in the past. As Tomomi discovers as the show starts, Nikusuke was actually once quite the accomplished gymnast. Now Tomomi intends to try and mess with him a bit by having him dominate his former wife while taking her down a few notches at the same time.

Unfortunately for me, the way they go about things are even nastier than what was in the first volume and go into directions that completely turn me away from watching chunks of it. Wakana for example now has wooden clasps like stocks around her breasts while the glasses girl has something similar but smaller around her tongue. Even worse for her, she gets items attached to her nipples and elsewhere that suck in and pinch the skin with air, causing her to writhe heavily. Not to be outdone, as Wakana is put into a minimal wedding dress, she gets electrified nipple clasps and a vibrator that's all connected to a remote that sends high voltage through it.

Ok, see, when things get so intense that the characters eyes get so small and then completely white out, that's when I really don't care for the show. And that's what happens here and it only gets worse when Tomomi gets personally involved in everything. While there's some amount of karma to all of it, I lost all interest in watching the show as these two episodes went along. There's an interesting and fairly long epilogue to the end of the second episode after the credits that puts things in a somewhat different light, but it didn't save what happened in the episodes themselves.

In Summary:
To the point of actually nearly sickening me, these two episodes of Princess 69 are pretty damn disturbing and don't appeal to me at all. While elements of it were present in the first two episodes it's taken to whole other levels here and made me almost feel ill. There are some interesting plot movements in here that do move the storyline forward, but since most people watch for the sex itself, it all comes down to what your tastes are. Mine aren't compatible with this show at all at this point. Not recommended, especially to those with weak stomaches.
