While promoting Harry Potter weekend for the ABC Family channel, producer David Heyman has once again passed along word to fans about what to expect for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth installment which hits theaters next July. USA Today also provided a new photo of the teenage Tom Riddle (Voldemort) portrayed by Frank Dillane, which you can check out on the left. While talking to the paper, Heyman brought up the story playing a part in the pacing for this film versus previous installments.
"It's different than the other films," says the producer. "It's not the non-stop action that some of the others are, although there is some action. It's more of an emotional film. We follow multiple stories: Harry's relationship with Ginny Weasley, Ron's relationship with Lavender Brown... There also is Hermione's discomfort with Ron's relationship with Lavender. There's Draco Malfoy's story. And then there's Harry's relationship with (Hogwarts headmaster and professor) Dumbledore. We're following these multiple stories that enrich the canvas."
He of course mentions Ron as well since Harry's best friend has a larger part to play in this film as the producers plan to keep Quidditch in the next film after it was taken out of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
"Ron is scared witless for the game," says Heyman. " So, Harry pretends to slip him some felix felices, a liquid luck potion. All of a sudden he's imbued with fresh confidence, and he's remarkable in the Quidditch match. He's performing miracles. With that comes incredible delight and maybe a little bit of cockiness."
The sixth film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, David Bradley, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Natalia Tena, Julie Walters, David Thewlis, Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis, Bonnie Wright, Jim Broadbent, Helen McCrory, Jessie Cave, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Frank Dillane. Director David Yates is once again behind the camera, based on a screenplay by Steven Kloves.
Plot Summary: Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will hit IMAX and standard theaters July 17, 2009.

How long is the movie? I'm ok with story over action, but what will the rest opf the world think? Looking forward to this. I heard it will be funny.
I heard some rumors that the ending was different than the book and that YET AGAIN snape gets shafted, i mean COME ONE alan rickman is awesome and perfect as snape and he is given cameo shots... i mean its like having babe ruth on your team and he just pinch hits on every other day...
i am glad they delayed it if it means making it more true to the book and giving the ending we all know deserves as i dont want to spoil anything for anyone...
Don't we know all of this already. I've also heard the rumors that Snape gets the shaft AGAIN... Man... i'm sick about that. I wanted so badly to see him go ballistic at the end of Prisoner of Azkaban... and nothing like he just forgave Harry for stunning his ass... please... that was my only grip about that film. Here he plays such a pivotable role, I really hope they don't blow it from the book.
Quidditch? I was hoping never to have to expose myself to that again, I guess I'll have to suffer through it at least once more.
you know, with this I'm actually quite hopeful this one won't be such a slash and burn like 5 was...good to see Quidditch coming back
