Fans of sci-fi genre television seem doomed to experience rough rides on primetime networks these past few years. While some series build enough of a niche audience to survive the ratings wars, a lot fall through the Nielsen cracks. From Fox's "Firefly" being pushed around from the beginning to ABC's "Invasion" getting the axe to "Jericho" being pardoned only to be summarily executed a year later, there's no shortage of genre downfalls on the major networks.

The latest contest of fanboy backlash seems to be centered around the series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles." It's no surprise that with the low ratings it has received on its Friday night lineup (the night many shows go to die) that news outlets around the web continue to report the series is a rotting corpse and we just haven't been notified of the funeral arrangements.

Those cancellation reports have been coming for this particular series for sometime, with EW's Michael Ausiello adding weight to them, when he reported that the show was leaving the airwaves because the sets were destroyed. At the time, this seemed to be a cause of alarm for fans that yet another one of their genre series was fading into TV oblivion. But if you caught the season 2 finale, you would have seen the real reason the sets were destroyed. Obviously the writers and producers couldn't respond to rumors before the finale or they would have ruined the surprise.

But they can certainly speak out now.

Patrick Sauriol, of Corona Coming Attractions, sat down with co-writer/co-producer Ashley Edward Miller to discuss the rumors, his take on the direction of the Fox series and why fans shouldn't give up hope just yet. To read the interview, click here.

We'll likely know the true fate of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" when Fox announces their pick-ups for next year on May 18, 2009. Until then, let the debate continue.

The Hollywood Reporter ran an article last week on all the networks'  shows that were on the bubble.  On the Fox lineup, Sarah Connor & Dollhouse were both brought up.  They gave Dollhouse a 50/50 and Sarah Connor pretty much no chance of coming back.

Yeah, FOX is going to let this go in the tank along with Dollhouse. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. If they surprise me, so much the better.

I still believe TSCC will be back. My positive thinking is being emitted all around the country and will make  all the difference. My influence will be felt by Fox execs. subconsciously, watch. The final nail and reason for the show coming back will be the blockbuster opening of Salvation and renewed interest in the franchise.

Wait, the film opens after they decide what's coming back. No matter, the film will be tracking so well that they'll know it's going to be huge or at least pretty big, bigger than Watchmen.

I HAVE IT!  Fans of the show Jericho sent in bags of peanuts to save their show for another season.

We should send FOX some evil robots from the future who will kill any exec who refuses to renew the show.  I think it can work.  Now to begin the design process...

hanso 4/25/2009 10:21:22 AM

Can the season finale serve as series finale?  If not Fox needs to step up.

Fox should renew the show for 1 more year and let the show runners create a series finale.  They let Prison Break have a series finale if I'm not mistaken.

Terminator Salvation will set the stage for TTSCC coming back for a Season 3. The whole future angle that they went with was totally clever.

If Fox is dumb enough to cancel it then they are total moron's being there are these other lame shows on air that don't even hold a candle to TTSCC.

If anything move it over to FX or another network and let them roll with it.

It shall be back. Brian Austin Green said even tho he's involved with another project if the show is picked up for a Season 3 he'll be back 100% and even quit that other tv show project.

IT WILL BE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SgtTech...I truly question if you actually read these things sometimes....as Jarrod just pointed and as hanso has pointed out numerous times the movie comes out AFTER Fox has to announce their decision.  So the movie won't F'ing matter.

I would like it to come back for one more season too but Fox doesn't give a shit about the movie.

SgtTechCom 4/25/2009 4:18:47 PM

The movie is going to make $$$ . It's gonna be money in the bank and it doesn't matter if they announce the 2009 schedule before it comes out by a shy what 3 days? 2 Technically? lol Who cares .  Someone will step up and say you know lets give season 3 a shot  " because of the movie" that was my point.

Frankly i don't care what anyone says on here. Most of everything are all rumors and b/s but the show will return if not by fox then another network. Again my point all because of the movie - the hype around the movie - the video game of the movie - plus 2 more movies after salvation.

Terminator will be backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

jedi4sshield 4/25/2009 8:21:19 PM

We need some Terminator action in our lives, this show must live. Don't cancel the SCC.

TheScriber 4/26/2009 9:29:59 AM

I agree the more terminator the better. Long Live TSCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
