The producers of TERMINATOR SALVATION have confirmed that Bale will be playing the role of John Connor in the film, nixing the doubts from different sources on which role he will play in the new trilogy. The producers sat down with Entertainment Weekly and talked about the new character in the trilogy, the possibility of whether Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a cameo, budget range, production dates and other topics. Production will begin March 15, 2008 in Australia and Budapest.

Here's a sample...

The other rumor was that Connor was only going to be a supporting role.
ANDERSON: John Connor is an ongoing, very central character throughout the next trilogy.
VICTOR KUBICEK: Exactly. The mythology, really at the root of it, is the birth of the hero. John Connor is this modern-day, messianic figure that is going to lead our franchise forward.
ANDERSON: He's leading the fight for the salvation of humanity against the machines. So he's very important.

So he's the star?
KUBICEK: Yes.
ANDERSON: There's gonna be another major costar with kind of equal presence in this installment.

This is incredibly good news, how could Cameron not want to be onboard.

Even better news is that McG was not confirmed by the producers or even mentioned here.

Please tell me you didnt forget to show that part of the article.

Who said last week, that johm connor will be a minor role...It will be the star for the trilogy, it will be huge....With batman and Terminator, Bale is going to be one of the most wanted actor and well paid !

Yea, what the hell is Cameron doing? He should stop with his 3d films and helm this new Terminator.
Cameron take the movie of McG's hands, please!

Well, as much as I wanted a T4 to be set solely in the future, now we get a trilogy. I can't say I'm really thrilled about that....

Hopefully they have one impressive storyline to tell.

I am excited about Christian Bale being brought in as John Connor for this though.

I guess I am the only one willing to give Mc G a chance, huh? I mean Bale seems to like something in MC G, otherwise he wouldn't have taken the role. I am kind of dissapointed that Bale is playing Connor. I wanted him to play a meantor to Connor or something. Oh well, I am sorry he will own the role and kick total ass. I wonder where Eddie Furlong is?

Won't this hinder his future for Batman?

Might end up with another Batman again....

Dazzler, I would think it would all depend on shooting schedules.

Bale has put out at least two movies that I can think of since BB. (Prestige, 3:10 to Yuma) So I would think that fitting in Terminator movies around one or two more Batman movies would be doable.

I do think this movie could be pretty amazing if done right. It basically gives us what we've been wanting from the Terminator and Matrix franchises for years.

Mc G is going to do a fine job. And this movie was going to rock with or without Bale. Cameron has moved past Terminator. I can't see him ever returning to this franchise. Can you imagine the expectations if he ever did?
I'm now wondering who's going to be the other star. Is it going to be another Terminator, his wife or one of his soldiers?

Chirop1, don't forget Rescue Dawn.

I don't know. I was very iffy about the idea of going beyond T3 (especially given that T3 was such a letdown after the first two movies). The only thing that gives me hope so far is that Bale is playing John Connor. As far as McG is concerned, I loved the first Charlie's Angels movie. Also, he is a producer on Supernatural. So, it's not a total loss that he's attached. We'll see what other news comes out...

I guess it would be cool to keep the storyline for a few more movies. Still, Skynet may not be going down in this movie!!! Atleast it would be cool if that in every movie the human resistance takes down the terminators a notch by destroying some important plan or facility leading to the eventual outcome of bringing down skynet altogether.
