Prometheus 2 Update

2014 or 2015 for the sequel

The studio's big summer bet was Ridley Scott's Prometheus, June's sort-of Alien prequel. The $130 million-budgeted film grossed a solid but not spectacular $303 million globally, putting it right on the franchise bubble. Fox confirms to THR that Scott and the studio actively are pushing ahead with a follow-up (stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are signed) and are talking to new writers because Prometheus co-scribe Damon Lindelof might not be available. "Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can't rush it," says Fox president of production Emma Watts, who also has overseen the successful reboots of the X-Men and Planet of the Apes franchises. A Prometheus sequel would be released in 2014 or 2015.

Thanks to
DarthBob for the submission.

Outstanding news.  Although not the cup of tea to some on here I was thouroughly surprised by this flick.  Can't wait to explore on the universe.  I hope they find a way to at least get Lindelof to consult or assist with the ground work of the sequel if it goes through.  Please no development hell!!

I too was pleasantly surprised by the film due to having no expectations what so ever going in. I also didn't treat it like an Alien prequel and found that visually it was stunning. I also felt the plot was interesting enough to keep me entertained for the whole time. If they make the sequel, I'll be there.

Will happily go to see this, it's good to know the first made enough cash to film a 2nd film. As for the loss of the director, that may be fore the best as with a Lost style out we can get a few more answers out of the film,

The question is,,,,,, Does anyone else see this becoming 3 films or however many is possible as long as it makes the studios cash????

Happy to see this. Hoping we go further ionto Scott's vision of this universe and have more mysteries solved....and not solved.

The only thing that Prometheus was good at was raising new questions... I guess is fair to give it a chance to answer them!

MrET, I believe the plan was four films (at least).

In my opinion, the best thing that could happen to this sequel is a different writer.  I had really high hopes for the movie and felt very let down by it, most of which was due to writing issues.

I too would like to see a new writer.  , the visuals made an impression on me, and the movie had me asking a lot of questions, but moving forward I don't want to feel completely lost.

The whole "Only Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace is being re-casted for the sequel" thing should be a spoiler alert for the first film..... haha

In my opinion, Prometheus wasn't that great of a movie.  The only exciting part was the revelation at the end but the rest of the movie was kinda lame.  Hopefully, Ridley Scott will redeem himself with the sequel.  Honesly, I think he should have just made an Alien sequel and maybe touch on some things that was explained in Prometheus.
