A normal person doesn't even notice such things?  I knew it...I'M A MOVIE GOD!  I should SMITE thee for calling my opinion wrong, but worry not...I am a forgiving deity.

With as much thought as you obviously put into TDKR, I'm kind of surprised you put enough thought into Prometheus to like it or hate it.

thx wormlander-Sometimes people just overthink things too much.  =)

As for the TDKR issue. Those plotholes, and unrealistic events/reactions used to really bother me. But then i told myself this is a comic book movie, and i could totally see these kind of things happening on a Batman Animated series or something as silly. haha

First off it's called "suspension of disbelief" which means you don't let little insignificant facts like do they have dirt on their faces get in the way of a good story (which it was a damn good one far superior from the rehashed Alien meets AvP mashup that Prometheus was with a little bit of deepness thrown in to make it seem different).  Oh and as a note:  $126,477,084 Domestic for Prometheus, $448,139,099 and #7 on All Time Domestic Records is The Dark Knight Rises. I guess you're right, it must've been so awful to have been seen that many times. And that's not with a 3D premium like Prometheus had (probably to make up some of the money they knew they'd lose). I couldn't even find it on the top 100 of all time and honestly didnt' want to look beyond that because well it just wasn't worth it.  You guys probably think Contact was a great movie and it was blah too. But if “you just didn’t get it” makes you feel better who am I to wake you from your dillusion?  "Puny God."

Never argue box office with your reasoning, "Titanic" must have been your FAVORITE movie of all time until it got beat by the next big thing.  If you only like what makes it big at the box office, then you are less than nothing to me.

SarcasticCaveman 3/1/2013 12:53:41 AM

And for the record, "Contact" was crap.

SarcasticCaveman 3/1/2013 1:03:02 AM

I've said I LIKED TDKR, but didn't LOVE it.  It was by far the weakest of the series.  If you can't agree to that, then you know what?!...we disagree.  Notice me not calling you a loser or saying you have poor taste for enjoying the movie.  That was the ONLY point I was trying to make.  Some of us thought "Prometheus" was fantastic, and we don't appreciate your snide remarks about bad taste.  And excuse the hell out of me for discecting an alright movie from a GREAT director.  Nolan brought it on himself from setting his standards so high with "Memento", "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight".

If you want to understand, or at least try to understand, what the rest of us saw when we saw "Prometheus", do a Google search for "Prometheus Unbound: What the movie was actually about."  If you think I read too much into TDKR, you haven't seen anything yet.

ThePumpkinKlNG 3/1/2013 2:53:08 AM

My point was that the numbers reflect how many people actually attended to see the films.  Again, reading too much but that's okay.  Glad we agree that "Contact" was crap though.  I never once said anyone was a loser for the record, just can't believe how many people really liked Prometheus to the degree that it seems to be on the board here.  Then someone proceeded to bring TDKR into it and well I'll defend it tooth and nail.  Anyways Caveman, it's going to be okay, take a breath.  On a side note if you have to go to a special site to find out what a movie was really about after watching said movie then the filmmakers have failed.  Not trying to get your blood pressure up, but think about it.

SarcasticCaveman 3/1/2013 9:31:35 AM

Well, the "special site" that explains a lot of Prometheus isn't really that special, it's just a blog from somebody else who saw the movie.  I picked up a couple of the things he mentions in his review of it, but JEEZ...I can totally see everything too, it's not like he was reaching too far for any of his points.  It's still an interesting read if you decide to find the time.

@Cave Dude, Contact was absolutely NOT crap! Sheesh! But that's my opinion. Not everyone agrees! :-)

@PumpkinKing, I liked Batman Begins, HATED The Dark Knight, and haven't even bothered seeing TDKR., but to say TDKR was better than Prometheus simply because it did better in the Box Office is lame, at best. Moon didn't do well at ALL in the theaters, yet in my opinion is one of the best modern Sci-Fi movies along with Prometheus. Another classic, yet over-looked Sci-Fi movie from the 80's is another example of not doing well in the theaters, but still being a BAD ASS movie: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai - Across The 8th Dimension. Absolutely fantastic movie on all levels, and yet, ALWAYS over-looked and underrated! Peter Weller was terrific and Banzai, and seeing Jeff Goldblum in an exaggerated cowboy outfit was hilarious!!! And John Lithgo's performance as Dr. Lizardo was classic!!! Also, it's got one of the LONGEST movie titles ever! LOL!!!
