Proyas to Direct SILVER SURFER?

I'm going to tag this as "rumor" for the sole reason that nothing is confirmed and it appears to be guesswork at this stage of the game. Still, it's a very good guess on the parts of those reporting it. Executive producer Avi Arad has spoken with Msn on the merits of filming Marvel flicks in Australia. In it, he confirmed that a number of upcoming projects will be filmed there because of their talented film crews and the proximity of so many special effects houses around Australia.

In the discussion, he mentioned that he will be filming the upcoming SILVER SURFER there for the reasons mentioned above. He also states that an Australian born director is in the leading role to direct the project.

From there, it's strictly guesswork but there is some merit to it so I'm passing it along. Director Alex Proyas has DARK CITY & I, ROBOT credited to his resume.

Alex Proyas is an awesome director and Dark City is one of my favorite films. Funny how it doesn't mention he also directed the Crow.

And, in the world of comic books, don't forget Alex Proyas also directed The Crow! IMHO, one of the best comic book movies ever. I wasn't impressed with Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, but with J. Michael Straczynski writing, and Alex Proyas directing (if true), I'm going to have to start paying attention. Edit: OK, videocide just beat me to it on The Crow thing...

i wasn t impress by fantastic four 2 either ! Actually none of the series impress me, and i was a huge fan of the comics...that s why maybe ! The part of the silversurfer appear in the movie are the best part of it. I beleive a movie with alex Proyas will do it just fine. The problem of the fantastic four are the figth, they never use their powers against jackass like the comics, it s always against the super vilain. We will love to see the thing kick some dumb ass on the street, but nothing only Docteur doom, really boring !

A Silver Surfer spinoff??? EH I'm more interested in hearing about Fantastic Four 3. FF2 was one of the three best films I've seen this summer.

Alex Proyas is a great director. He can really bring out the Surfers anguish that surrounds him. The Crow and Dark City are 2 of my favorite movies. I hope this rumor is true.

I liked The Crow myself, but I've only seen a little bit of Dark City. I, Robot was okay, and I saw some of Garage Days, but didn't know what to make of it. The Silver Surfer movie's been in development for years, but the reason it's coming close to being made is because of the FF sequel. The one character I would like to see in the movie is Thanos. I always liked him from the comics.

Odds are this film will at least be visually stunning. Don't know how good a movie based on the Surfer alone will be though.

well, not for nothing, han old buddy, but they`ve had a comic book mased solely on the Silver Surfer for years, which was decently popular so they have plenty of good source material. I just hope that they do Galactus right this time, instead of that damn cloud.

I just can't see the masses going to see this???
