Sony has officially set the date and price for the European and Australian debut of the PS3.
The system will debut on March 23 in both locations for 599 Euros and AUD 999.95 respectively. 28 games will also be launched with the system.
The European launch was originally set for November 2006, but production issues with the blu-ray players forced Sony to change plans.
Only the 60GB model will initially be available for purchase, with the cheaper console being made available later. Sony has pledged 1 million units for the launch.
KJ's Take: Sony bungled the PS3's launch about as bad as possible. The price, the hardware problems and the forced blu-ray add on were just a few of the many blunders that Sony heaped upon itself.
Now they are being left in the dust as the Wii snags the Japanese Market and the 360 dominates everywhere else. Where does that leave the PS3? On your local retailers shelves! Seriously, go to Best Buy ... the system is there ... no one wants to pay for it and I don't blame them.
