Comic book writer James D. Hudnall attracted some attention last month when his co-creation with artist Dan Brereton, namely THE PSYCHO, was optioned by Universal Pictures. Now Hudnall is preparing to kick new things off in the comic industry with the forthcoming launch of new titles published by Dark Planet Productions, the company Hudnall created two years ago to bring his projects to other media. Teaming up with Sulaco Studios, Hudnall will release two ongoing, monthly, full-color comic series next February, 2 TO THE CHEST and ROGUES.

2 TO THE CHEST tells the story of a young Los Angeles police officer who is nearly killed in a shooting, but from that event he discovers a path that leads him to the greatest mystery of all time. ROGUES is described as a more lighthearted tale featuring two adventurers exploring a fantasy world. While both titles will be published monthly, the issues will be collected in trade paperbacks at a future date, a direction that has exploded in recent years for the comic book industry.

"It's been my goal from the day I started in comics to write stories that can be collected into books as complete stories," explains Hudnall. "Now the industry has caught up to my idea. There's more acceptance of trades. In fact, they will probably dominate the industry in time. And Dark Planet is ready with a host of creator-owned material by exciting talent."

The first ten pages from both comics are featured on the Dark Planet website and a full-color preview book will be sent to comic retailers next month. The first issues of both books are also solicited in this month's PREVIEWS.
