TMNT Release Date Change

Banished to August

By Robert T. Trate     August 16, 2013

Does it need more time? Perhaps there is no competition in August? Paramount has released the official word that their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has changed release dates. TMNT, original scheduled for June 6th, 2014 will now premiere August 8th, 2014.

“The studio says the move is meant to capitalize on a lack of family films during the end of summer. It’s also supposed to further distance “Ninja Turtles” from Par’s next “Transformers” film, which is slatted to bow June 27”. - According to Variety.

TMNT or “Ninja Turtles” features Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, William Fichtner, Will Arnett, Whoopi Goldberg, and Danny Woodburn.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arrives August 8th, 2014.

Wasn't the Godzilla Reboot also scheduled for June 2014.

A new Transformers is out next year?  I thought they were shooting for 2015.  I'm surprised I didn't read anything about the hype for that that this year's Comic Con.

That change in date makes me think they don't have faith in the movie.  Who puts out blockbusters they expect to make money in August?  That date makes it seem like a low gamble... we still want a summer movie, but if it doesn't make a bunch of money it was an August release.

Kiss of death for summer blockbuster movies nowadays.

There was a time, August still packed a punch but since we get blockbuster movie overkill in May-July, August is now the dead month (see results this month so far).

Some studios should rethink their strategies and focus blockbusters on the dead months. Jan-Feb, Sept, even April. Hunger Games and Alice in Wonderland proved March can be a huge draw. Marvel is rolling the dice on Cap for early April next year. We'll see how that pans out.

They will prob tease Transformers 4 with either Thor or The Hobbit. They waited until around the winter season to tease the last one, DOTM. But yeah, Comic Con would have (and always is) a great way to promote upcoming films. Bay could have atleast shown the new Robot designs. I;m excited to see what he does with the new film, but I do hope he hands over the movie franchise once this next one is finished.

I say get Del Toro on the Hasbro market and get him to dominate the ending of the trilogy so it doesn't get too sloppy and over played; as it is already gotten a little old.. DOTM was good, but too goofy.
