Punisher and Daredevil Movie Updates

At the smart time

When will Daredevil return to the big screen?

With all the talk of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now under way, we are starting to look at which characters will join the fray next.  An Ant-Man movie is just days away from casting announcements, and Thor: The Dark World is knocking at our door. Bleeding Cool.com was “cool” enough to ask Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige about Daredevil and the Punisher. Feige had this to say:
“We’re trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now. Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time”.

It really is the a tough trick for the Marvel Studios now. Where does the Punisher and Daredevil fit in the this new Cinematic Universe they have established. With the Avengers core of characters they each have a place on the team, as well as their own respective stories. Daredevil has always stood alone. The Punisher first appeared in “Amazing Spider-Man” and built his own story that really doesn’t involve the world of superheroes. Each have had their own films and neither was the success that Marvel hoped it would be.

I think at this stage in the game, Marvel and Disney are better at going after characters like Doctor Strange and Ms. Marvel. Sound off below Maniacs!

No movies.

These are grounded heroes. Bring them to the small screen. Daredevil TV show and have Punisher appear.

Have Daredevil appear in a SHIELD episode and see what the reactions are. If fans love it, then do a spinoff.

DareDevil needs to be on the silver screen. He's just too great a character.

Punisher I can see on a tv show on a channel like FX for example where they have a bit more freedom to show violence.

Bring back Thomas Jane ftw! Daredevil could be great tv or film either way I'd like to see more of both characters.

Completely agreed with Wiseguy. Daredevil movies. Punisher perfect for a TV series... on a network dedicated to keeping it gritty and rough. Maybe with Jigsaw as a recurring bad guy?

Marvel is supposed to be shopping around a package of four shows I think on different venues such as Netflix. That network has shown the way to produce a complete season or series of shows as one package that will probably be the future. If this is true I'm hoping that at least two of the shows are Daredevil and Punisher. These more grounded shows would work perfectly for gritty, urban episodic TV much better than how they did as movies.

You know, I'm not a huge fan of any non-mutant Marvel stuff, but I think James Purefoy would be a great Punisher.

Kevin Feige needs to call me! Because this is what should be done: A new TV series called "Marvel Knights" (or whatever name you want to use to indicate a separate but contained reality).

Style it on American Horror Story - 13-15 episodes per season, every season focusing on a different character but with potential crossovers.

Season One - Punisher

Season Two - Daredevil - with appearances by Kingpin and Elektra

Season Three - Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch, to separate from the Cage movies)

Season Four - Elektra spinoff from Season Two

This eliminates the new for protracted stories, drawing things out for 4, 5, 6 seasons. Lock in a set number of episodes, show it, and then move on. Basically a 12-hour long serial.

@Warcry - It's a winning formula that has yet to be implemented. I've long been saying they should use that formula to depict Stephen King novels. 1 novel every season. I think Under the Dome was kind of a tepid "toe in the cold pool" experiment along these lines, but they made two HUGE mistakes: 1. Under the Dome a far inferior King piece. 2. Aside from being an inferior novel, it's implementation on television was horrendous! (Acting, scripting, direction). Marvel Knights is a winning idea that could make a network MILLIONS, but minus the talent behind the project could also portend a gigantic loss. I think that's what everyone's afraid of. For every Lost, there are numberless copycats like Flashforward and V that flopped flopped and flopped some more.

Why does every Marvel hero have to have the Avengers apart of its universe. For example doing a Punisher movie under Mirimax and not mention the Avengers like every other movie they've done before Avangers. Sound like Marvel may be putting all there eggs in one basket

thezillaman 10/21/2013 1:29:59 PM

they both need to come back to the big screen in big fashion at the right time no doubt, ...
