Tom Clancy Has Passed

The literary world lost a great writer on Tuesday. Tom Clancy, author of “The Hunt for Red October” and “Patriot Games” died in a Baltimore Hospital, he was 66 years old.

In his 30 plus years in publishing, Clancy became notorious for his modern day spy thriller. Always on point for details, his novels often dealt with the technical side of the spy world.

In the cinema, his character Jack Ryan became a staple of the spy genre and was featured in such films as The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and Sum of All Fears. The latest incarnation of Jack Ryan will be played by Chris Pine in the up coming Jack Ryan: Shadow One (December 2013). Clancy’s novels have also spawned numerous video games.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Clancy family.

RIP, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your books and getting lost in the exquisite detail that you provided to your readers. Now, for the love of Tom, someone please make a Rainbow Six movie!

Any news on cause of death?  66 is somewhat young nowadays, and I hadn't heard that he was sick.

I don't think they have listed anything even to this day but I do remember he was having some problems and surgeries after he got married several years ago. i think one was a heart surgery so might have been heart problems.
