Plot Summary: "Quantum of Solace" continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in "Casino Royale."

Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.

Forensic intelligence links an Mi6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.

On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.

In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation.

Updates:

September 1, 2006 - BOND 22 has moved it's release date to November 7, 2008.

Columbia Pictures confirmed that the film would move to the new date rather than stay put at the originally planned date of May 2, 2008.

Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman Jeff Blake said the studio, along with partners MGM and British production company EON Prods., are in talks to bring on a new director after Roger Michell left the project.

August 10, 2006 - Creative differences have stalled negotiations with Roger Michell (Notting Hill, Changing Lanes) who was in talks to direct BOND 22. The negotiations have now fallen through and the film is once again searching for a director.

July 21, 2006 - BOND 22, the sequel to CASINO ROYALE, has penciled in it's release date as May 2, 2008.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli made the announcement saying, "As we wrap production on 'Casino Royale' we couldn't be more excited about the direction the franchise is heading with Daniel Craig. Daniel has taken the origins of Ian Fleming's James Bond portraying, with emotional complexity, a darker and edgier 007,"

July 17, 2006 - U.K. director Roger Michell is currently in negotiations to direct the follow-up to the upcoming film CASINO ROYALE.

The follow up has a working title of BOND 22 and is supposedly based on an idea from original Bond producer Michael WIlson. No writer has been picked to write the script as of yet.

The sequel would star Daniel Craig as Agent 007. Michell has directed ENDURING LOVE, which starred Craig, NOTTING HILL and CHANGING LANES. [Hollywood Reporter]
