Quicksilver Cast in X-Men

What about The Avengers 2?

By Robert T. Trate     May 26, 2013
Source: Access Hollywood

Here is an interesting, if not legal bit of questioning. Bryan Singer tweeted over the Thursday that Evan Peters has been cast as Quicksilver in X-Men Days of Future Past

The Tweet: “Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining#XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as#Quicksilver.”

What is interesting is that Joss Whedon has announced that the same character will be in Avengers 2 with his sister the Scarlet Witch.

This leads us to ask will how, legally, can the character be in a Fox (which has the rights to the X-Men) and also a Disney (who owns The Avengers) movie? Has an agreement finally be reached? Will this be the first crossover character? Ironically the character has been in both books for decades as he is the property of Marvel. So why all the hubbub any way?  Oh yeah, money!

X-Men: Days of Future Past is slated to debut on July, 18, 2014.

The Avengers 2 is slated for May 2nd, 2015.

Damn it Fox! Don't screw up the Avengers! Hopefully this can be a sign that it is time to just play nice already.  They'll make enough extra money by feeding off of each other's successes.

I forget where I read it, but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are strange exceptions to the "who owns it" rule. They are sort of co-owned by Marvel and Fox. The thing is, though, that they cannot be mentioned as "mutants" or children of Magneto in the Marvel movies because "Magneto" and "mutants" are terms owned by Fox. If Quicksilver figures into the 1970 portions of the X-Men movie, it shouldn't interfere with an older version of him figuring into modern timeframe of Avengers 2.

 I can see it.

Forgive me if I'm wrong (and this isn't to start anything off here) was Quicksilver in Wolverine Origins - in a cage at the end with all the other kid prisoners? Just asking but I swear it was supposed to be him. Anyway this dude looks like he could fit the part.

Thanks for the insight hungry, that was interesting. The cool thing here is if they decide to use the same actor, or split ways with another character/feel. This will be fun to watch.

Go read the report Hitfix had on this issue. They're not playing nice, there's a lot of animosity here even while they try to put the best face on it.

QS is sort of Fox's way of laying claim to the character and may even open up some legal issues though it's unlikely to get that far. The guy wasn't even in DOFP til Whedon announced he had plans for him

Whedon wants to flesh out the character. Fox/Singer want him for one action sequence

Marvel needs to just go ahead and introduce him in Captain America and beat Fox to the punch

Douchebag move!!!  I even replied to Singer's proud tweet on how this was was a total dick move on his part (or Fox).  I did read somewhere Singer never liked the fact Whedon re-wrote some of his stuff fro the X-men movie, Maybe this is a way of getting back?

You are absolutely right Wise. Even better than introducing him in Cap, someone suggested they do a full Avengers 2 cast introduction at San Diego Comic Con this summer like they did for Avengers. This would also be a way to showcase they resigned RDJ, The media would know who Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch after this, And then for good measure, have them in Cap 2 as a cameo or even the SHIELD series.

It was not necessary to use Pietro considering from what I read, is needed for "1 action sequence". Whatever. They could have used Northstar. Being gay, I'm surprised Singer wouldn't go the route of using a gay character.

I will retract all of my comments if in the end, both studios end up using the same actors. At least there will be a sense of contiuity and they wouldn't have to mention their mutant heritage in Avengers or their Avengers status in X-men.

I know Whedon is working on getting Saoirse Ronan as Scarlet Witch.

Singer retracted any mention of Avengers in his tweet. Because was bombarded by negative tweets. And maybe Fox made him change it. The timing of this announcement was suspicious and kind of sleazy if you ask me. And he's put a young actor in the middle of a pissing contest between Fox and Marvel/Disney.

This like a divorced couple with shared custody of children and sooner or later somebody gets pissed off and they wind up in court over it. I think that Disney could sue to reopen the liscence or terminate it.

Who else wants Fox to los the rights to X-Men now?  Singer is a douche and Fox needs to crash and burn with their sh*t ass X-men movies,  Singer and Fox are a pox upon the MCU.
