@monkey...I said there hasn't been a solid Frankenstein movie since YF; not there hasn't been any Frankenstein movies since YF.

Darth, I have to disagree, I really liked The Bride with Sting and Jennifer Beals, it was surprisingly good.

There was no Igor character in Shelly's novel. The weird assistant character in the 1931 film was called 'Fritz'.

It's surprising how many Frankenstein movies and books are based on  the 1930's Universal movies rather than Shelley's novel (which may be a good thing).   Igor (or Ygor) played by Bela Lugosi was a prominent character in the 1938 classic "Son of Frankenstein."

Like Monkeyfoot I'd like to see remakes of all of the classic horror movies in a darker tone. There is so much more film makers can do now and so much more the audience can handle.

I think Hollywood was headed in that direction until the release of The Wolfman in 2010. That trash set everything back years.

He's going to be playing the title character of "Igor" but the title is "Frankenstein".  Am I missing something?

dojen1 3/1/2013 3:36:26 PM

@freestrike, THANK YOU!! I thought I was the only one who spotted that glaring hole in Jarrod's copy. If the movie is titled "Frankenstein", and Radcliffe is playing Igor...it's hardly a TITLE role, is it?

either way, I think Radcliffe grew into his acting chops in the HP films. I thoroughly enjoyed "The Woman In Black" (creeeeepy) and look forward to this as well.

BTW, Kenneth Branagh's "Frankenstein", with DeNiro as the monster, was VERY faithful to the Shelley novel.

If Radcliffe played Dr. Frankenstein they wouldn't have to put platforms on the monsters shoes.

Igor is said to be the main character in this latest Hollywood attempt, guys. Not "Frankenstein"....I'm going by the press release. They could just change the title of the film but "Frankenstein" is a bigger cash cow title than "Igor."...

And hey there back, Starlight and Monkey!

StarlightGuard 3/1/2013 6:05:44 PM

"igor" will be a cash cow if I have anything to say about it...and wiseguy....and maelstrom....and notafan, who all were fans of my little project all those years ago

Hey now, I was a fan too...They're still in our blog section somewhere...
