Rags Morales now exclusive to DC comics

Set for more HAWKMAN

By Rob Allstetter     September 11, 2002

DC Comics has announced that HAWKMAN penciler Rags Morales has signed a one-year exclusive agreement.

Morales has penciled a variety of projects for DC, including HOURMAN and several issues of JSA, and has drawn HAWKMAN since issue #1.

"Rags is doing the best work of his career," says Mike Carlin, vice-president - executive editor, DC Universe, "and his HAWKMAN is truly one of the high-spots of powerful draftsmanship and comic-book storytelling in an increasingly strong DCU. I think Rags' rendition of Hawkman will be remembered years from now as one of the few definitive versions of this classic character."

"Peter Tomasi, my editor on HAWKMAN, is truly one of the greatest people I've ever worked with in this industry - I couldn't ask for a better cheerleader. He's one of the reasons I want to work with DC," Morales says.

"I have a lot to work with, thanks to the great scripts by Geoff Johns and James Robinson - plus Michael Bair and John Kalisz are two of the most talented people I've ever worked with, and they always make me look good. I have to echo what Geoff said, which is that if we were to leave the book at some point and it went on for another hundred issues, we'd have reason to be proud."
