Sam Raimi hinted that he may be ready to return for a fourth Spider-Man film to the movie magazine Premiere.

"I love Spider-Man and I love working with Kirsten, Tobey, James," said Raimi, "I have to make sure that when I'm done with this picture I'm really still fascinated with the character."

"At this moment I'm fascinated with him."

When asked if he could do a fourth film sans Tobey Maguire he replied, "I'd rather not... I couldn't imagine it."

KJ's Take:  The only cast member who I think really wants to be done with the series is Dunst and she is replaceable:  see Bryce Dallas Howard.

I bet this is how they do it. Just guessing: Make some excuse at the end of part 3 or beginning of the next movie why Mary Jane isn't around and then in part 4 have Gwen Stacy be his new girl and then she dies...maybe in a certain bridge incident?

When I first read that Kirsten Dunst would be MJ, I wasn`t too happy, but she was actually a good choice and she`s grown on me. (I just pictured MJ to be slightly hotter) Anyway,to me, if they wrote out MJ, it would be a kind of stupid. I honestly don`t know why they are even introducing Gwen Stacy now. She was his 1st love as most who read the comic know. What they should do if, they are going to get rid of MJ is just have her take GS`s place. Spidey can`t save MJ, she dies, he`s guilt ridden, but ends up with Gwen Stacy. It would be like a "What if" comic.

Fine kill MJ off for the next one then. Gwen could be the new girl. Or maybe even the Black Cat which would be way cooler, but since that is too cool it would not happen in the movies.

With the arc of Peter and MJ's love story in the films, I think killing her off could add a lot of depth to Peter's character. In part one he loved her but realized he needed to protect her by staying away. In part two he battled with his feelings, but MJ ultimately made the choice to be with him once she knew his identity. In part three, she dies and Peter has to live with the guilt. It would be a good ending to that trilogy and open up part four for Gwen to enter the picture.

I remember when I said on cinescape that MJ should and may die in Spidey 3, everyone jumped on my back about it.... yea, she needs to go the way of the comic version of GW, it'd add more depth to the character of Spidey and an interesting twist to the movie mythos.

LOL, maybe they'll end up turning her into a new Carnage...lol, I hope not.

I also remember someone saying they should fast forward a few years into the future and replace most of the key cast members for a new trilogy, that's the best way to do it don't you guys think? So now you don't have to really fudge with the core of the mythos and you can incorporate a backstory into the newer movies, explaining what happened to Venom in the years following 3, etc.

It is pretty cool that Raimi's thinking about continuing on Spidey. But what about his plan to do the Shadow? I suppose he could do it before Spider-man 4 or just produce the Shadow.

Considering I hate the first movie so much that I couldn't even watch the second one I really don't care.

But I HATE Tobey Maguire, has he ever been in a good movie? And don't say Spiperman. :-p

Considering you hate Tobey Maguire, why should I care to answer your question, bdd?

Go research yourself.

Every time you think MJ was supposed to be "hotter" in the Spidey flicks...check out the scene from part one where Dunst gets rained on in the alley.

That's hot enough for me.
