When we last heard from SPIDER-MAN director Sam Raimi about the latest on the third Spidey movie last month, Raimi still hadn't decided on what villain he would be using in the second sequel. It still looks like Raimi hasn't made up his mind, but at least we have some idea as to which bad guys he may be thinking of.
Yesterday USA Today ran a story in which Raimi admitted he still hadn't made up his mind as to which supervillain will be plaguing Peter Parker in SPIDER-MAN 3, scheduled for the summer of 2007. When pressed, the director gave up three possibilities he's mulling over: The Vulture, Kraven the Hunter and the return of the Green Goblin (who may be Harry Osborn wearing his father's Goblin armor.)
"I'm trying to figure out what (Peter Parker) is going to be learning on this next adventure," Raimi told the newspaper. "Once I know this journey and the conflicts to put in, I would choose the villain that best represents those conflicts."
The report also incidated that Raimi will be working on the SPIDER-MAN 3 screenplay with Alvin Sargent, the screenwriter of SPIDER-MAN 2.
