Rambo TV Series?!

Stallone to Reprise Role

By Robert T. Trate     August 21, 2013
Source: Variety

Variety is reporting that “Entertainment One has completed a co-development deal with Avi Lerner and Nu Image to develop and produce a TV series based on action film Rambo”.

I know Maniacs, we are in shock here too. What is even more surprising is that Rambo’s star, Sylvester Stallone is creatively involved with the series as well as in talks to reprise his role. This would mean that it would not be a a re-imagined version of David Morrell’s original character from the book “Rambo” but a continuation of the character from the film. An interesting development as those final moments of Rambo did open up the question, what does our hero do next after he finds the courage to go home?

Variety is also reporting that “Under the eOne and Nu Image deal, the partners will develop the series and shop to networks Stateside and abroad”.

Avi Lerner, who produced the Rambo pictures, will be partnering again with Stallone for the potential series.

What do you say Maniacs? Rambo the TV series?

On August 22nd, 2013, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Stallone will not reprise his role. Check out the news story here

Has to be on Starz or HBO. Limit it to 10 episode seasons. 22 episodes would be overkill and too PG on one of the major networks.

How would this work? If Stallone plays Rambo wouldn't that cut into his moviemaking? Is it supposed to be after Rambo 4? The character always tries to stay out of trouble, so would he be traveling around from town to town like the Kung Fu TV series looking for it?

Wait and see.

Ok this seems like its missing something. there is no way Stallone would do a TV series. maybe creative consultant but not star. At least I wouldnt think so

I Have a feeling it will me mostly set in the build up to a young Rambo going to vietnam with a framing device of Stallone in the present recounting his adventures to his family...

they made this already. It was called the Incredible Hulk

I hate to say it but reboot is probably in order.  Start from just before Nam.  Kinda like a Smallville show.
