I almost rented Superbad over the weekend. I don't know...it looks like they are trying to ripoff American pie stuff to me.

Dazzler do yourself a favor and rent the film.

Man, they should give out a plot sypnosis about this film. I'll go see it regardless, Apatow Productions is on a role right now, looking foward to seeing Mclovin in action in this film. Can't wait to check out Walk Hard.

Worst idea ever! Biblical comedies almost never work. Look at "The Davinci Code". Did it make money? Yes! Was it funny? Yes, but not on purpose.

If you want some decent intentional Bible humor, rent the 1993 mockumentary "...And God Spoke" Hilarious!

As for Superbad, I agree with hanso: It shames American Pie on many different levels and is definitely good for a laugh.

Definitely check out Superbad. it's really like a teen High School version of the original Clerks.

A seemingly simple tasks spiral into brilliant insanity with hilarious and smart commentary teeagehood and the fear of growing up.

Biblical comedies can work when done right. Examples are Mel Brooks' A History of the World Part I and Monty Python's Life of Brian.

The DaVinci Code was a bad book made into a bad movie that was repackaging themes and theories that have been around since the 5th century (at least) and presenting them as something new and revolutionary.

Dan Brown is a hack. Judd Apatow and his crew consistently produce quality work that crosses genre boundaries and audience demographics. If they want to dabble in a biblical setting I will assume that it will continue to be high quality entertainment.

Dazzler--
see Superbad, it is hilarious, though crude and hits home in a lot of ways.

Sorry, but saying it ripped off American Pie made me laugh. As though American Pie was the original teen angst film!

Definitely in the same vein though.

Superbad should've been called ...SuperGREAT, huh yeah huh, mmm sorry I couldn't resist. I loved Superbad, Maybe they could've went for Superbad-assed?...no well okay it's still a great movie, FAR SUPERIOR to American Pie, and it's ilk.
As for this movie FANFUCKINTASTICK! can't wait, The cast include several of my fav. peeps. Apatow seems to have his finger on the funny button lately.
And (just because slamming artist on a geek website is a pet-peeve of mine) Dan Brown is most definately NOT a hack. Anyone who has never created anything calling someone who has is a hack ass. I mean you may not have liked The DaVinci Code , but the "He's a Hack " line is so indicative of jealousy. If I'm wrong give a full comprehensive critique of why exactly the writer is as hack, and in the process point out the flaws in the writing technique that make him a "hack". He never repakaged the ideas as original, new, or his own. He did repakage them in a new captivating and entertaining way. BUT if anyone assumed they were new and original theories it is clearly the fault of the simple mind who assumed that, not Dan Browns.
I didn't like the movie, but it intrigued me enough to compelled me to read the book, and I loved the book, what a page turner. I always wondered what the popularity was, it was because it was a unique creative fun book to read.
