With their first teaser likely coming next week attached to Underworld Awakening, Sony Screen Gems has revealed a new title change and the official plot synopsis for the fifth installment in their Resident Evil franchise. Taking out an "s" and inserting a "5", the new title is Re5ident Evil: Retribution. You can check out the new official plot concept down below. This next adventure will star Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe and Li Bingbing. Franchise director and producer Paul W.S. Anderson returned to the directing duties, based on a script he wrote.
Plot Concept: The wildly successful film franchise adaptation that has grossed nearly $700 million worldwide to the popular video game series, "Resident Evil," returns in its highly anticipated fifth installment, "Re5ident Evil: Retribution" in state-of-the art 3D.
The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella's most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
Re5ident Evil: Retribution arrives in theaters September 14, 2012.

It's not like people watch this sort of film because they expect it to win an Oscar for Screen Writing. Plot development is not key to RE movies. It's based on a video game. I only watch because I hope Milla will get naked again. Action/adventure/mutant slaying is the other reason.
I'm not looking for an Oscar for screenwriting in a Resident Evil film. I'm looking for consistency. In Afterlife, Alice is injected with some kind of drug that removes her superhuman abilities of regeneration and healing, etc. But that doesn't change anything. The very plane that she's on at that given moment when Wesker injects her soon crashes, and she walks away from the crash despite not being strapped down to a chair or anything. Then later on she's stabbed in the arm, and her facial reaction is one of, "Oh crap, I just stubbed my toe." She doesn't bleed all over the place, and her arm is simply bandaged back up with no need for stitches.
Never mind the fact that nothing happens in the film at all, except for the few survivors reach the boat at the end of the film. It's 90 minutes of simply shooting zombies, with merely one real event that happens in the film. I have a hard time even calling it a film because of how silly it is. I'm not going to make some broad statement like, "anyone who likes these movies is retarded," but I would challenge anyone to make a solid argument as to why they're worth watching.
Michelle Rodriguez? Didn't she turn into a zombie and get killed in the first movie? I guess the movie Avatar resurrected her for a third time...
It's all just mindless fun enjoy it or don't, watch it or don't watch it, it's just a movie. No point over analysing the films, there are more important things in life. Besides jackwagon you did make the statement by highlighting it in your comments. On another point my thoughts exactly Chopsaki, Michelle Rodriguez coming back, her characters dead. Unless of course its the whole clone thing...
I'm thinking flashback, Chopsaki....Or dream. As you see, Colin Salmon is also in the cast and he was diced by the laser sequence. We also reported Oded Fehr was returning late last year but Sony has taken his name off the casting list at the press site...i.e...a cameo that they don't want advertised....so he's no longer in the cast list. Either way...a flashback or a dream to Alice's past. Or evil clones out of Umbrella. You never know with this franchise.
What about the Redfields? Are they still in this? And really why should anyone need to make a challenging argument as to why they are worth watching? You not watching isn't really going to effect anything for me or anyone on here. I'm just sayin. If you don't like it, that's cool. no skin of my back or anyone else's.
Ha...like this film is going to have more of a plot than the other Resident Evil films.
