"The Reaping" Final Poster

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Tuesday, January 30, 2007

The final poster for the upcoming horror film, The Reaping, is now online and can be viewed to the left.

In the film, Hilary Swank plays a former Christian missionary who lost her faith after her family was tragically killed, and has since become a world-renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena. But when she investigates a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appear to be the Biblical plagues, she realizes that science cannot explain what is happening and she must regain her faith to combat dark forces threatening the community.

The film stars Swank, AnnaSophia Robb, David Morrissey and Jillian Batherson.  The Reaping opens March 30, 2007.

KJ's Take:  The plot is stupid, but the same can be said for most horror films.  Excluding the very few exceptions, you have to give horror films a little liberty to enjoy them, and if Swank is attached, you give the film a little more.  Thus I think this could be worth a look, it kind of reminds me of The Skeleton Key, which was a decent flick.

Actually this movies premise reminds me of that Demi Moore movie..I think it was called the Seventh Sign. Yeah you are right with Hillary Swank attached it should actually be very good.

It is exact same idea in theatrical release of the Exorciste prequel.

I liked the trailer I saw and with Hillary in the lead this will be a must see for me. I just hope it's got some genuine scary parts, like the Exorcist or The Changeling. I'm tired of scary movies that just aren't scary. Maybe I'm too old to be scared, but I don't think so. I read that Michael Jackson returned stateside to make a comeback and was immediately frightened!

Did this get pushed back for release again, it was supposed to come out last year, and then in Feb...now it's March; what the hell is going on?!

Geez, can't there be a different character arc for this kind of movie. It's been done in End of Days, Stigmata, etc.

I know it seems like a good arc, but it keeps turning up in bad movies. Hilary Swank is in it, so it might be good, but I'm not holding my breath.

Doesn't it strike you a little odd that they are making a film about a series of plagues ravishing the state of Lousiana? That's a new one...
I can't wait for the scene where Hilary raises her hands up to the sky, parts the Gulf of Mexico, and screams "Let my people go!!"
